AIA Ohio Technology Summit | Sinclair Community College

July 28-29, 2022

Join AIA Ohio July 28-29 as part of this year’s exploration of technology in architecture. The AIA Ohio Technology Summit is a mix of “over the shoulder” experiences allowing members of the design community to better understand changes in technology and the impact those changes have on the profession. From 3D printed homes to the use of drones and bioluminescent flora, sessions will focus on new trends in advancing the art of the architectural profession. The Technology Summit is AIA Ohio’s look at how others, in Ohio and beyond, are using technology to advance, improve, and expand the impact of architecture.

AIA Dayton Student Design Program Spotlight

Alexandra Bohler, a native Daytonian and 2001 graduate of Stivers School for the Arts, is an AIA member with Hatch Architecture in Dayton and has participated in the AIA’s annual student program for seven years.

“Each year, the committee chooses a different project, based on something going on in the community,” she said. “Last year, although we had to work virtually, it was a design for a restaurant in the empty lot next door to the Gem City Market on Salem Avenue, which the market’s co-op owns.

“This year’s project was to create a welcome center to the Westside Makerspace in one of the Wright brothers’ hangars by the new West Library branch on Abbey Avenue.”
