CASp Examination Training Course by the Pacific ADA Center


The Pacific ADA Center announces a four-day online training course to provide a comprehensive review of the relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities covered on the examination to become a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) in the State of California. A CASp is a qualified individual who is certified by the California Division of the State Architect to review buildings and facilities for compliance with state and federal construction-related accessibility laws, codes, and standards, including the ADA.

Join AIASMC Committee on the Environment along with architects from Heatherwick Studio and Google REWS teams for an insightful tour of the Google Bay View Campus. Opened in May 2022, Google’s Bay View campus is among the largest buildings in the world to receive Platinum certification for Building Design and Construction under LEED V4.

Our 2023 Lecture Series was a Roaring Success! What Will 2024 Bring?


The 2024 AIA East Bay Lecture Series, Leaders Shaping Our Community, is going to build on the 2023 successes by continuing to highlight design excellence, contributions to architectural education, and/or advancement of the profession of architecture in the East Bay. In 2023 we highlighted the East Bay’s legacy. In 2024, we are going to concentrate on the relationships between owners and designers. This format will allow in-depth conversations about a single project. We will get an insider and in-depth conversation understanding how projects are conceived, why the owner hired the architect, review how objectives were met, acknowledge how challenges were overcome, and celebrate successes.

Engineers Alliance for the Arts – Call for Volunteers!


The Student Impact Project (SIP) brings professional engineers and designers to lead, teach, and engage students in the design and creation of scale model bridges. Emphasizing learning across STEAM-related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), our project-based program encourages students to collaborate as they would in a real-world work environment. ABI October 2023: Business conditions continue to soften at architecture firms


Business conditions at architecture firms continued to soften in October, with the AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index (ABI) score declining to 44.3, as more firms reported decreasing firm billings than in September. In addition, indicators of future work in the pipeline stumbled as well, as firms reported a decline in inquiries into new projects for the first time since July 2020, and the value of newly signed design contracts softened for the third consecutive month.
