Help Support This Year's New World Architect's Camp!

New World Architects’ day camp is a 6-day long introduction to architecture.  We strive to empower underrepresented 11-14year olds in the Bay Area by teaching them architecture and design through hands-on workshops and exploring the built environment.

They are searching for volunteers interested in helping our youth campers learn design basics and better understand their built environment.  This year's theme we will be "Ideation, Iteration, Imagination" exploring solutions to natural disasters and emergencies affecting the Bay Area through an iterative design process, using traditional techniques and modern technology.

Habitable Attic Potential by Jonathan Clark

A lot of the work that we do in our office has been production residential work. When I first started working, this was mostly single-family homes for many of the regional and national home builders. The housing market started to shift after it crashed in the late 2000s. We started to work on higher density residential projects that sought to maintain the allure of single-family home ownership. These projects mostly consisted of attached single-family homes that were usually 2-stories tall. These types of buildings, regulated under the California Residential Code (CRC), are townhomes.

ABI March 2023: Business conditions improve slightly

Business conditions at architecture firms saw a slight improvement in March, following declining billings during the last five months. However, the pace of growth of inquiries into new projects at firms slowed in March, while the value of new design contracts declined for the first time in four months. This likely reflects the ongoing concern among clients about committing to new projects due to lingering uncertainty about interest rates and inflation.
