2020 AIA KY/IN Convention Postponed

Unfortunately, and out of an abundance of caution, the 2020 AIA Kentucky/AIA Indiana Convention has been cancelled due to COVID-19 related concerns.
In lieu of this year’s in person event, we are planning to present an on-line series of webinars (2020 AIA Kentucky/AIA Indiana Convention Webinar Series) using the presentations that were accepted for this year’s convention. The series will begin in August and continue through September. More information will be forthcoming regarding this convention webinar series, so please stay tuned.

We also ask that you SAVE THE DATE for the 2021 AIA Kentucky/AIA Indiana Convention, which will be held at the Seelbach Hilton Louisville on September 23-25, 2021.

Thank you for your understanding during this atypical time!

2021 AIA KY Board Openings

AIA Kentucky is seeking expressions of interest from members interested in leadership positions on the AIA Kentucky Board of Directors.

The position of Secretary for 2021 will be open, with preference given to a Northern Kentucky Section member to maintain geographic balance on the Executive Committee. This is a one-year term that traditionally leads to ongoing service in subsequent years as Treasurer, President-Elect and then President of AIA Kentucky.
The Associate Director , to be filled by an AIA Associate Member, serves a one-year term on the AIA Kentucky Board, for the 2021 calendar year.

Architect Members interested in the Secretary position and Associate Members interested in the Director position should submit a letter of interest to Nominating Committee Chairman (and Past President) Mark Powell, AIA no later than Friday, July 17, 2020.

The Last Word
Random thoughts from the ED mind:

  • Over 240 people attended the AIA Kentucky/CAAK/HBC Code Webinar series last month, with courses on Electronic Reviews and Inspections, Fire Ratings, and Means of Egress. Our speaker did an excellent job presenting the content in an engaging way and the online format received very positive feedback. We look forward to bringing this series back again next year and hope that many of you will join us again.

  • We are disappointed that this year’s AIA Kentucky/AIA Indiana convention will not be delivered in person, but we are looking forward to bringing you a webinar series FULL of engaging content (and HSW). More info is coming ASAP!

  • If you haven't renewed your architectural license for the FY 2021, the early renewal deadline was June 30. Payments with late fees can still be made until August 31. Contact the Board of Architects ASAP (859-246-2069 or www.boa.ky.gov) with any questions.

  • We are so happy that our ARE Grant Program has launched this month and I encourage all who are eligible to apply by July 31!

  • Watch for the latest edition of the AIA Kentucky Membership Directory and Firm Profile, which should land in your mailbox later this month. We'll also have a new online flipbook up on our website shortly thereafter.

  • Finally, I hope you all take advantage of the chance to (safely) enjoy the holiday weekend!

Cheers!
