Speakers Bureau Re-launch Looking for a speaker for your business group, public service organization or professional association?  Consider this - while all of us view and interact with our community's buildings, few of us understand the built environment like architects - and we want to share our insights. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is proud to announce that we have established a statewide Speakers Bureau of AIA members willing to speak to organizations just like yours.  You can schedule these complimentary presentations for your group by contacting the speaker. A brief description for each presentation is included on the website. More presentations will be available in the coming months! Visit the webpage

Save the Date for Legislative Meet and Greet
Dear AIAMI Members;

While the government affairs committee has worked to build relationships with legislators, nothing can replace one on one contact with constituents. As you know, Michigan will seat a new legislature in 2015, and in addition to returning legislators there will be a number of new faces as well.

Relationships between legislators and their constituent members is critical to the success of government affairs. To kick the 2015 / 2016 session off, we have planned a number of legislative "meet and greet" sessions throughout the state as follows;

February 13, 2015; Wayne County, Location: Wade Trim, Detroit
February 27, 2015; Macomb County, offices of AEW
AIAS Lawrence Tech and University of Detroit Mercy 6th Annual Beaux Arts Ball

The Beaux Arts Ball brings together professionals and students for networking in a non-traditional environment. The theme this year is Synergy, the integration of syndicate and energy.

Dennis King, FAIA, has authored an article on Why Design Matters, which is scheduled to be included in the January 2015 issue of CAM Magazine.

If you have a subject that you would like to express your point-of-view on please contact Public Policy Director, Dennis King, at AIA Michigan (248) 310-3960 or dmking@aiami.com to explore the opportunity.  We'd love to include your message.
