Happy Monday!

Today is an especially happy Monday for me because on this exact day 35 years ago, I started my career with AIA Michigan. How quickly time has flown! I feel honored to have experienced many years of AIA Michigan history; I have supported 35 motivated presidents, been a part of the Beaubien House renovations, and seen so many of you grow in your careers and achieve great milestones.

I am very thankful to be a part of this dynamic organization and I have witnessed that even during down economies and major changes in the building industry, our organization can achieve amazing things. I hope you will take a moment today to reflect on your AIA history and celebrate your personal achievements. Let that feeling of thankfulness motivate you to strive to achieve even more great things - my 35 years of experience can attest to the fact that AIA Michigan architects are capable of anything they can dream!

Speaking of personal achievements, congratulations to our Design and Recognition Awards winners! From the perfect weather to the smiles on the faces of our honorees, we had a beautiful event enhanced by the inspiring space of the Broad Art Museum. Thank you to everyone who attended the Design Awards and to our amazing sponsors! Pictures from the celebration will be available soon and I will include them in this month's newsletter.

This week, I am looking forward to the Rae Dumke Collection: 100 Essential Architecture Books unveiling this Wednesday. If you are interested in attending, please see the invitation article below and RSVP to evelyn@aiami.com for this free event. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Baldwin Library!

We have been promoting this for weeks, but if you have just registered for convention, mark your calendars for the special AIA Michigan, LTU and UDM Reception hosted at the Harley Ellis Devereaux office in Chicago during the AIA National Convention. If you are attending the convention and would like to join us, please review the flyer and RSVP to evelyn@aiami.com! Thank you to Harley Ellis Devereaux and Herman Miller Healthcare for sponsoring what is sure to be a lively event!

Have a great week and remember to contact me anytime with your ideas or if you would like to join a committee!

AIAMI/MAF Speakers Bureau: Call for Presentations
AIA Michigan and the MAF want to get the word out about the benefits architects provide to their communities. To accomplish this we are gathering passionate speakers to create the Speakers Bureau which, in conjunction with our local chapters, will bring exciting, informative presentations to organizations around the state. This is a great opportunity for our members to raise awareness about their firm's work and their passion while advocating for the architectural profession.

Applications are being accepted until October 31, 2014 for the 2015 program. If you are a member in good standing and would like to join the Speakers Bureau, please review the Call for Presentations and the Speaker Questionnaire

Please visit the Speakers Bureau webpage and if you have any questions, contact the Speakers Bureau Task Force:
