Happy Monday!
We are in full preparation mode for the AIA Michigan Design Awards celebration this Saturday, June 7th at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum! The brochure is available on our website so be sure to check out all the great projects and exemplary honorees. Registrations will be accepted online through Friday at noon!
We recently released the information about the special AIA Michigan, LTU and UDM Reception hosted at the Harley Ellis Devereaux office in Chicago during the AIA National Convention. If you are attending the convention and would like to join us, please review the flyer and RSVP to [email protected]! Thank you to Harley Ellis Devereaux and Herman Miller Healthcare for sponsoring what is sure to be a lively event!
It is with mixed feelings that I announce our Communications Director, Christine Zylla Lovstrom, will be leaving AIA Michigan this month. We are sad to see her go but we are happy that she and her husband are returning to their home in Phoenix. Christine will be working remotely for us during the summer so although she will not physically be in the office, she will be working to ensure we have a smooth transition of service to the membership.
On a positive note, we are working with AIA National to develop tutorials on resources for small firms. We want small firms to know about all the resources AIA National can provide to help them run their firm, including marketing kits and benefits. AIA National is currently developing this tutorial, but in the meanwhile I would encourage our small firm members to look through the Small Firms Resource page and contact me with questions they would like AIA National to answer in future tutorials. Additionally, I read the article " 7 Reasons Why Small Firm Architects Should Not Abandon the AIA" and would welcome your feedback. If you are a small firm practitioner and have tips or lessons learned to share with the membership, we want to feature your knowledge in an upcoming Monday Minutes!
Have a great week and remember to contact me anytime with your ideas or if you would like to join a committee!

AIAMI/MAF Speakers Bureau: Call for Presentations |
AIA Michigan and the MAF want to get the word out about the benefits architects provide to their communities. To accomplish this we are gathering passionate speakers to create the Speakers Bureau which, in conjunction with our local chapters, will bring exciting, informative presentations to organizations around the state. This is a great opportunity for our members to raise awareness about their firm's work and their passion while advocating for the architectural profession.
Applications are being accepted until October 31, 2014 for the 2015 program. If you are a member in good standing and would like to join the Speakers Bureau, please review the Call for Presentations and the Speaker Questionnaire.
Please visit the Speakers Bureau webpage and if you have any questions, contact the Speakers Bureau Task Force:
