AIA Michigan Strategic Council
Representative Nominations
The AIA Michigan has received two nominations for the position of Strategic Council Representative (formerly known as Regional Director). The nominations are Jeffrey Ferweda, AIA, AIA Flint Chapter and Clift Montague, AIA, AIA Detroit Chapter. Additional nominations may be made by petition containing the signatures of ten Members, or by resolution of any Chapter or Section or its Executive Committee. Nominations must be received prior to 11:59p.m. May 31, 2016. Any additional candidates will be announced as they are received.
Over the next month the candidates will be reaching out to chapter presidents to set up meetings in your area. You may also receive one mailing from each candidate stating their position other than what is printed in the Monday Minutes.

Lawrence Tech National Convention Celebration

The documentary focuses on the life and works of Earl Young, a self-taught builder who created thirty-one of the world's most unique homes and structures in Charlevoix using glacial boulders culled from the northern Michigan landscape.
Bureau of Professional Licensing had some administrative changes that occurred this week in LARA. Our Director, Mike Zimmer, has taken a position as Governor Snyder's cabinet director effective Monday, April 18, 2016. Chief Deputy Director

has been appointed by the Governor as the new Director of LARA. Shelly has the same passion and commitment to protect the citizens of this state and provide excellent customer service as our former director. This departmental change will not affect the operations of your board or BPL.

AIA Flint Scholarship - Application must be postmarked by May 31, 2016
The American Institute of Architects- Flint Chapter is pleased to announce it has established a scholarship for graduating high school seniors pursuing an education and career in architecture, as well as for continuing college students enrolled in an architecture program.
The AIA Flint Architecture Scholarship Fund was established to encourage and assist students graduating from high schools in the Flint Chapter region (Genesee, Shiawassee, and Lapeer Counties) and existing college students to pursue a professional degree in architecture at a college or university with a NAAB accredited architecture program, or an associate degree in architectural technology. The fund is administered by the AIA Flint Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. (read more)
