n September 10th we were joined by coworkers, friends and colleagues for an afternoon of fun out on the links at Metacomet Country Club in East Providence. This charity outing supported the ACE Mentor Program of Rhode Island, along with supporting scholarships for students pursuing careers in architecture.

The purpose of the program is to recognize achievements in design by Rhode Island architects and to honor the project teams and the clients who work with them to create and enhance our built environment.

New AIA Rules & Ethical Standards for Members
The AIA's National Board of Directors has approved new rules and ethical standards explicitly addressing sexual harassment, equity in the profession, and sustainability.
These changes update the AIA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct which applies to all AIA members.

You're Invited to a Volunteer Appreciation and Recruiting Social

: Breaktime Bowl & Bar - Suite 1330 - 999 Main Street, Pawtucket
Join ACE Mentor Program of RI for a night of celebrating the accomplishments of volunteers and introducing potential volunteers (aka you) to the ACE RI team.
Experienced mentors and board members will speak briefly about their roles, the need for new volunteers, and your options for getting involved. They will also be available for questions in a very relaxed and informal setting.
Complimentary appetizers will be served, each attendee will receive one drink ticket, and all the bowling lanes are reserved for our private event. Don't miss out on the fun!

Emerging Professionals Construction Tour

Wexford Innovation Center
Come tour the Wexford Innovation Center, a 200,000 sf mixed-use building currently under construction in the heart of Providence's Jewelry District.

Shawmut Construction will lead the tour and provide a real hands-on method for Emerging Professionals to gain construction and evaluation experience.They will discuss the digital mechanical coordination and the use of Navisworks in the coordination process. This opportunity is also a chance for participants to learn about building superstructure and curtainwall design for this seven-story urban high-rise building. The goal is for participants to gain an understanding of all the components that go into a building to satisfy occupant well-being.
AXP Credit:
Aspiring Architects can document up to 40 hours in “Construction & Evaluation” for site-visits with a mentor. This experience should be tracked in Setting O “Other.” A mentor to approve the NCARB experience report will be identified at the beginning of the tour.
CEU Credit:
The event is being registered for CEU credit 1.5 LU (HSW TBD).

Founded in 1875, AIA Rhode Island is a statewide component of the American Institute of Architects, and is the seventh oldest AIA chapter. It is a professional association representing over 200 professionals and 35 Corporate Affiliate members. Members adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct that assures clients, the public, and colleagues of an AIA-member architect’s dedication to the highest standards in professional practice. Corporate Affiliate and Allied members include engineers, contractors, owners/clients, public officials, other allied professionals, students, and others interested in design and the built environment.
