AIA Rochester Scholarship Program

APPLICATIONS DUE ON FRIDAY !

AIA Rochester, in conjunction with AIA National, and the Rochester Architecture Foundation, announces the 2023 Scholarship Program. It is open to high school seniors committed to an architecture program for the Fall 2023 term and college students currently enrolled in an architecture program for the 2022 – 2023 academic year.

Students meeting the above criteria must have a permanent residence within the seven-county area of Monroe, Wayne, Livingston, Ontario, Yates, Allegany and Seneca counties, or Greater Rochester member-firm areas served by AIA Rochester. All applications must be postmarked by: April 14, 2023

April Committee Highlight:

Design Awards Committee

This month we are highlighting our Design Awards Committee. The Design Awards Committee is tasked with some of the greatest responsibilities of our chapter committees. This committee runs the chapter’s Design Awards program as well as plans and produces the annual Design Awards Celebration in June. 

The Design Awards requires a robust committee to plan and execute both the awards process and the event itself. This is an exciting committee which offers leadership development and creative expression to accomplish AIA Rochester’s signature annual event. The committee meets as needed from August – January with a concentration from January – June. Committee meetings are currently held virtually each Friday morning from 8-9 a.m.

AIA Rochester Putting Competition

Design a Mini Golf Hole!

It's time to reboot the AIA Rochester Golf Tournament Putting Contest! We are turning the putting green into a mini golf course and want you to help us! Register your team to design & build a temporary mini golf hole.

Submit your teams design by May 15th. All submissions will go to the jury and four designs will go on to build their mini golf hole (teams will be reimbursed up to $250 for materials) and $500 will be awarded to the grand winning team. Register by May 12!

Swinging Fore Scholarships Golf Tournament

Preparations are underway for our 38th Annual Swinging Fore Scholarships Golf Tournament. Proceeds to benefit AIA Rochester Scholarships and educational programming. Last year we awarded $18,000 in scholarships!

The event will take place at Ravenwood Golf Club on Tuesday, September 12th and sponsorships and foursomes are already beginning to fill up! Our tournament has been sold out in previous years, so don't wait to register.

Become a Partner!

AIA Rochester offers many different opportunities to support our members and the profession. Your partnership allows us to better support our members through opportunities for professional advancement, community involvement, and promoting design excellence in the built environment. Partnerships are open to architects, engineers, planners, landscape architects, artists, and those in government, education, journalism, manufacturing industry, and other fields allied to architecture. Partnerships are based on a calendar year from January - December.

2023 Social Media Initiative

AIA Rochester is featuring projects done by local architect members/firms and we hope to hear from you!

Each firm can submit up to 5 projects. All we need is:

2-3 photos of your project (including one detailed photo of a specific aspect), a short description of the project and the architect and photographer names. The deadline for the next submissions is May 30th and will be featured in June/July!. Email submissions to Linda Hewitt. We look forward to hearing from you!.

Social Impact Committee

This group of motivated members is planning a community centered physical built project in a local disadvantaged neighborhood. This is a long-term project which virtually meets monthly. The project will tentatively take place in mid to late 2024.
