AIA Rochester Honor Awards

AIA Rochester is pleased to solicit nominations for its annual Medal of Distinction. This award is the highest honor that AIA Rochester can confer on one of its members. Framework for Design Excellence: Design for Integration

Principle #1

Good design elevates any project, no matter how small, with a thoughtful process that delivers both beauty and function in balance. It is the element that binds all the principles together with a big idea.

  • What is the concept or purpose behind this project, and how will the priorities within the nine other principles inform the unique approach to this project?
  • How will the project engage the senses and connect people to place?
  • What makes this a project that people will fight to preserve?
  • What design strategies can provide multiple benefits across the triple bottom line of social, economic, and environmental value?

AIA Rochester has added a new committee to focus on issues of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within our professional and local community. The mission of this committee is…

To act as a resource to AIA Rochester members in support of developing a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive profession and to help our regional community understand and realize the value of the architecture profession as an advocate for a more just world.

This committee is made up of local architects and individuals from our community who are looking to listen, learn, contribute and help us take action towards meeting our mission.  Meetings are held every other month.

If you are interested in helping AIA Rochester as we work to make a change, please contact Trevor Harrison at tharrison@hbtarchitects.com.  We would love to have you be part of this group of passionate people.
