APRIL AIA LUNCHEON NEXT WEEK!
Join us for the April AIA Central Oklahoma Luncheon on Thursday, April 13th at OSU-OKC from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Our program will be  Using Social Media to Promote Your Company  presented by  Lauren Daughety of Vann Associates | Marketing + PR. 

Lauren Daughety is a skilled communications strategist with nearly a decade of professional experience creating campaigns, creative and messaging for a variety of businesses and organizations. As executive vice president at Vann & Associates | PR + Marketing, she leads all aspects of client relations and is the chief strategist for media and marketing efforts relating to the variety of clients in the V&A stable. With scores of award-winning public relations and marketing campaigns attributed to her efforts, she utilizes her vision crafting new campaigns for healthcare, tourism and non-profit clients.

Prior to joining V&A, Daughety served as director of corporate communications for Christian Companion Senior care where she developed public relations, media relations and advertising campaigns to promote local and national brand awareness. Daughety has also served as the public relations manager and marketing and advertising coordinator at Frontier Country Marketing Association in Oklahoma City, where she was instrumental in leading media-based campaigns and direct-to-consumer marketing strategy. 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications/public relations from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. Daughety resides in El Reno with her husband Chavis and their Great Dane, Merlin.

Tour of the new Coletta Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital, by the women-led design team at Rees Associates.
                       
Opened in 2016, the Coletta Cancer Center is a 86,000 sq. ft. facility consisting of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Infusion, Tumor Registry, Clinical Trials, Cancer Resource Center, Breast Center Diagnostics/Imaging, Breast Surgery, PET/CT/ MRI, Multi-Disciplinary Clinic, Cancer Resource Center, Laboratory/Pharmacy and Public Support Services. The Coletta Building is the first of its kind in Oklahoma City, as no other hospital in the area has combined all cancer and breast services under one roof.
 
Meet in the Main Lobby of the Cancer Center which is located on the south side of the hospital.
 
This event is free but because it is limited to 20 people, it is open to members only (AIA, Associate AIA and Allied). 
 
 
  
April's Small Firm Roundtable

Are you a sole proprietor or a member of a small firm?  If so, we encourage you to join us for our Small Firm Roundtable on Friday, April 14th at noon at the AIACOC Office.  

April's program will be MARKETING 101 presented by Leslie Goode of Harrison Walker & Harper.  

Leslie Goode is the Business Development Manager for the Construction Division of Harrison Walker & Harper's Oklahoma office.  She has over 30 years in marketing and business development for architecture and construction firms and, her involvement with and leadership in firms of varying sizes, service offerings, markets and cultures gives her a well-rounded perspective of the AEC community.

Leslie specializes in business and marketing planning, developing new business initiatives to grow business, coaching key staff members on business development activities, assisting in strategic project pursuits, and event and publicity management.

A big thank you to Beacon Construction for providing lunch for our April program.  

This program is open to AIA and Associate AIA members of small architectural firms.

Volunteers Needed for the AIA Architecture Tour!
The AIA Architecture Tour is set to take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from noon - 5:00 p.m. and we need your help to staff each of the tour locations.  Shifts are 11:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 2:15 - 5:00 p.m.  Volunteers receive a FREE ticket to tour opposite their shift. 

Please consider giving a few hours of your time to volunteer.  You can check out the tour locations HERE.

Volunteers for LEGO CLUB!                   
AIA Central Oklahoma will again volunteer at Lego Club to teach children about Architecture!  This will kick off Architecture Week 2017 on Monday, April 17th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. 

We need about 8 volunteers to help plan the activities for the evening and to assist that night as well.  If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please contact: Marrina Boontheekul at [email protected] or Morgan Jones [email protected].

OKLAHOMA CITY FOUNDATION FOR ARCHITECTURE
KIDesign                   
KIDesign KIDesign is an introduction to architecture and design in the world around us. 1st through 6th grade children will participate in various activities as they learn, create, and design their own projects with members of the local architectural community. KIDesign is held each April during Architecture Week.

Our 2017 event will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Old Surety Insurance Company located at 5201 N. Lincoln Boulevard, OKC. Registration is FREE. All children attend this program free and in order to do that, we rely on the generous support of sponsors.
