AIA CENTRAL OKLAHOMA NEWS

February AIA Luncheon- Register Today!
The AIA Central Oklahoma February Luncheon will take place on  Thursday, February 21st at 11:30 a.m. at OSU-OKC  in the Student Center on the 3rd Floor. We're excited to announce our February program Placemaking & Community Building. Our guest speakers will be,  Shane Hampton and Ron Frantz, AIA of the OU Institute for Quality Communities.

Shane Hampton  joined the Institute for Quality Communities ( IQC ) in 2011 and has served as the director since 2015. He leads a range of IQC projects and courses focusing on urban design, district planning, placemaking and transportation. He is an advocate for "lighter, quicker, cheaper" approaches like tactical urbanism and interim design. Shane manages collaborations with OU faculty and students as well as professionals in local government, design fields and the non-profit sector. He is a member of the Congress for New Urbanism, Urban Land Institute, Placemaking Leadership Council and American Planning Association. Shane grew up near Edmond, Oklahoma. He holds a master's degree in Regional & City Planning and a bachelor's degree in Public Affairs and Administration from the University of Oklahoma.

During the last 37 years,  Ron Frantz, AIA a licensed architect, worked in over 100 Oklahoma communities to save important-and maybe overlooked-community landmarks and everyday places. Currently he works at The University of Oklahoma Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture. His roles include serving as an Associate Professor with the Division of Architecture; working as the Coordinator for the Environmental Design Undergraduate Program; and being the Director of Small Town Studios with the Institute for Quality Communities. Here, he works with staff, faculty, and students to provide design services for Oklahoma.

Join us on February 21st to learn more about the work of the OU Institute for Quality Communities. AIA Members will earn 1 hour of HSW credit for attending this program.

AIA Central Oklahoma Members attend free and the guest fee is $25. We will accept reservations through Monday, February 18th. The deadline to cancel reservations is noon on February 18th.
