Congratulations to LISA CHRONISTER, FAIA!
Lisa M. Chronister, FAIA, LEED AP, was recently elevated to the AIA College of Fellows under Object Three, Led the Institute. Fellowship in this category is granted to architects who have "actively, efficiently, and cooperatively led the Institute or a related professional organization over a sustained period of time and have gained widespread recognition for the results of their work."
Specifically, Lisa was recognized for her impact in developing emerging professionals, advancing diversity, and engaging with communities. Lisa has served as a 7-time team chair for National Architectural Accrediting Board visiting teams and served two terms on the national AIA Young Architects Forum Advisory Committee where she was the editor of the YAF Connection, the group's primary outreach activity. She advised on diversity and inclusion priorities for the Institute as a member of the national AIA Diversity Council, improved how firm leaders support their differently-abled staff by creating and presenting "Engaging a Diverse Workforce" for the 2017 AIA Conference on Architecture, and created the initial planning for the 2018 Design Justice Summit. Lisa has inspired architects across the country to be active in their communities by creating and presenting "Shaping Communities" for the 2017 AIA Conference on Architecture, speaking at the 2018 Leadership Institute national broadcast, and serving as a two-term member of the Oklahoma City Urban Design Commission.
Throughout her career, Lisa has also devoted her time and talent to professional service, including two terms as President of AIA Central Oklahoma and founder of the chapter's Women in Architecture group. Lisa has served on multiple AIA national award juries and committees and is herself a recipient of the national AIA Young Architects Award. Lisa holds a M. Arch from Pratt Institute and a B. Arch from the University of Oklahoma.
Lisa is currently Principal Planner for the Current Planning and Urban Design division of the Oklahoma City Planning Department where she leads the City's design review processes across six different design districts. In this role, she uses her architectural expertise to influence public decision making, improving public and private development to ensure a vibrant, attractive environment for the entire community. Before joining the Planning Department, in over two decades of traditional architectural practice, Lisa established herself as an accomplished manager of complex and large-scale projects, both new and renovation. Working in both Oklahoma City and New York, she led the design and production of numerous educational, cultural, and laboratory facilities.

2019 Leadership AIA Applications Due March 1!

Art By Architects- Deadline Extended to Friday!

The American Institute of Architects Central Oklahoma Chapter is excited to host Art by Architects .. The exhibition will showcase artwork by members of the American Institute of Architects, Central Oklahoma Chapter and will be exhibited during Architecture Week 2019 next April. The exhibition is open to all members of the AIA Central Oklahoma Chapter.
All entry forms and electronic submissions must be received no later than February 22, 2019. Each entrant may enter up two pieces of art for consideration.
All works must be submitted electronically, to be considered, via email or drop box. Only submissions following the proper format as outlined below will be accepted. Send the your artwork image in a JPEG format in a file no larger than 10 MB. Email to aiacoc@cox.net with the subject line: Art by Architects by (your name). For example: Art by Architects by Jon Smith.
All submitted work must be original and have been created in the past five years. All objects and installations must be designed to be exhibited on walls, on the floor or on pedestals. Works to be hung from walls must be constructed and wired on the back to accommodate installation using appropriate hooks, eyes and wires. Framing should be to professional standards. Wall hung objects aren't restricted by size but please consider the weight since they will be wall hung. Sculpture and other 3rd dimensional media must be structurally sound and will be displayed on platforms, tables or on the floor.  All other media (e.g. digital media) are welcome to be submitted.  The artist must provide the floor area space requirements for its presentation as part of the entry form under "size" (example: "4'x5' Projection screen, projector placed on 18"x18"x18" box 10' away from wall.").  The artist must provide the devices by which it will be displayed (e.g. projector, computer and screen, etc.)."
We are partnering with the Individual Artist Gallery (IAO) and the works will be insured against theft and loss while on display.
The AIA Art by Architects Committee will select the pieces for the show and notify the entrants no later than February 25, 2019. Selected participants will then receive details for delivery and additional information on the exhibition.
The Art By Architects Exhibit will open on Friday, April 5th at the IAO Gallery and will remain on display at the gallery through April 26, 2018.
