Architecture after 5 is free to our AIA, Associate AIA and Allied members and their guests.
Architecture after 5 is meant to bring the local A/E/C community together throughout the year for some much needed social time.
Architecture after 5 will be hosted in Pickel's historic barn!

Architect Needed for Oklahoma City Historic Preservation Commission
As of the January 2018 meeting, The City of Oklahoma City Historic Preservation Commission has one vacancy. Applicable requirements are that any new commission member live, or own commercial property within, one of the historic districts.
In addition, the open spot on the commission is for a licensed architect.

Join us for our 2018 LEADERSHIP AIA Class!
Leadership AIA is a unique opportunity for members of AIA Central Oklahoma, AIA Eastern Oklahoma and AIA North Central Oklahoma Section to enhance their leadership skills so they can be an effective leader not only in their firm and AIA but in their community.

What is a Leader? What Kind of a leader are you?
Government Advocacy
Media
Marketing
Project Management & Delivery
Community Service Day
Design Legacy
Mentorship
Program Requirements:
Candidates must be an AIA or Associate AIA member of AIA Central Oklahoma, AIA Eastern Oklahoma or AIA North Central Oklahoma Section
Tuition is $650
Selected participants are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and complete all homework. The opening session on March 30 is mandatory. Participant can miss one class and still graduate but are encouraged to attend all classes.
Application:
The deadline for applications is January 30, 2018. Selections will be announced no later than February 10, 2018. Up to 16 participants will be selected.

IES JANUARY PROGRAM
Human Centric Lighting: Spectrum not Color Temperature
January continuing education program on January 17th
, 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Will Rogers Garden Exhibition. Olive Garden will cater the lunch.
About the speaker: Robert Soler is Vice President of Human Biological Technologies and Research at Biological Innovation and Optimization Systems (BIOS). Prior to his work with BIOS, his most prominent work was with the Kennedy Space Center, where he helped design and build the first LED light for use on the International Space Station (ISS) and collaborated with scientists to use LED light for photo biological purposes in space, including the circadian lighting system designed to synchronize circadian rhythms of astronauts aboard ISS. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has begun a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego.
IES FEBRUARY PROGRAM
Architectural Lighting for Office Applications
This program will be held on February 21
st at 11:30am at the Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center.
Speaker: Carl Stewart - Eaton Lighting.
Carl Stewart is the Market Development Manager for Corelite and Neoray brands of Eaton Lighting. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and currently resides in Austin, TX. He has worked in lighting manufacturing for 15 years for a variety of manufacturers. He began his career at Lucifer Lighting, then iLight Technologies, followed by Zumtobel Lighting and currently he has been with Eaton Lighting for 5 years.

The Certificate of Research Excellence is a professional certification that recognizes and celebrates exceptional, rigorous, and impactful practice-based environmental design research studies. CORE affords design research professionals in any industry sector the opportunity to be at the forefront of environmental design research, showcase the proficiency of their work, provide lasting value to clients, and advance the industry with rigorous and impactful design research.

High Impact Management Canstruction Competition
High Impact Management will again host their Canstruction Design/Build Competition to benefit the Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma.

Announcing 2018 Great Places Awards!
The Great Places Awards are unique among programs that honor professional and scholarly excellence in environmental design. They seek to recognize work that combines expertise in design, research, and practice, and contributes to the creation of dynamic, humane places that engage our attention and imagination
Awards will be given in four categories:
- Place Design
- Place Planning
- Place Research
- Book Award
We welcome submissions from the full breadth of environmental design and related research fields, including architecture, landscape architecture, planning, urban design, interior design, lighting design, graphic design, place-based public art, environmental psychology, sociology, anthropology, geography, and the physical sciences.
We'll begin accepting submissions through our online portal in January; the deadline for submissions is February 26, 2018.
