Architecture after 5 is free to our AIA, Associate AIA and Allied members and their guests.

Architecture after 5 is meant to bring the local A/E/C community together throughout the year for some much needed social time.

Volunteers Needed for AIA Architecture Tour!

The AIA Architecture Tour will take place on Saturday, April 14th from noon - 5:00 p.m. The tour is part of Architecture Week and helps us promote the important role architects play in our communities.

The tour volunteers help us greet tour goers as well as help us ensure the properties are protected and well cared for during the tour.

Shift 1: 11:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Shift 2: 2:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Tour volunteers receive a free ticket to the tour so they can attend the tour opposite their shift.

Please consider volunteering 2 1/2 hours of your time. We can't pull this event off, which brings nearly 800 tour goers, without your support.

Women in Architecture April Program

As part of Architecture Week 2018, we have a teamed up with Oklahoma State University, School of Architecture for a great program! So mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 10th at 5:30 p.m. in Stillwater at the OSU School of Architecture.

Our guest speaker will be Rena Cook comes from a theatre training background and shares strategies on using the voice and personal power in compelling and authentic ways. Rena is for anyone who uses their voice as part of doing their job.

You will laugh, you will learn, you will never think of your voice in the same way again. Rena gives us all hope that we don't have to be stuck with the voice we think we were born with! She has a new book coming out in February called Empower Your Voice for Women in Business, Politics and Life. Rena is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Oklahoma where she taught voice speech and dialects to numerous actors who have gone on to perform on Broadway, in film and television. She is an acclaimed voice coach, a nationally recognized speaker and author, and a voiceover artist for commercials and animation.

Dinner is included thanks to sponsorship from GE Johnson Construction, AIA Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, School of Architecture.

April AIA Luncheon on April 12

The AIA Central Oklahoma Luncheon will take place on Thursday, April 12th at 11:30 a.m. at the Capitol View Event Center. We're excited to announce that our guest speaker is Kevin Koch, AIA with Populous. Kevin will be on hand to tell us more about the Oklahoma City Convention Center.

Kevin Koch, AIA is an architect with extensive experience designing commercial retail, mixed-use, healthcare, convention center and hospitality projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from Kansas State University and his experience includes providing project coordination, development and delivery and client consultation on a number of large projects. At Populous, he assists with all phases of design, from master planning through construction. Kevin currently works as a project architect for the convention center market. He worked extensively on the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Expansion in San Antonio and is currently the lead project architect on the new Oklahoma City Convention Center.

The new Oklahoma City Convention Center was designed to provide an excellent user experience while offering maximum flexibility for the operator to divide and sell the space. At the same time, the building is unique in that it will be located within the City's Core to Shore plan, becoming the focal neighbor to the surrounding new Park, Convention Center Hotel, and future development. Populous implemented industry leading expertise that were developed from past project experiences to push the new Oklahoma City Convention Center in front of their competition.

Plan to join us on April 12th to learn more about the Oklahoma City Convention Center. AIA Central Oklahoma members attend free, thanks to the support of our generous sponsors, and nonmember cost is $25 per person. The deadline to register is Friday, April 6th.
