AIA’s Key Messages to Federal Government Parties in Election Year 2019
Canada’s automotive aftermarket industry is an economic driver. The industry contributes $21.6 billion to the Canadian economy and employs 389,900 Canadians. But the industry is facing disruption.

As we approach the federal election scheduled for Monday, October 21, read our messages on these disruptions to federal parties.
Employment Insurance Premiums
The Canada Employment Insurance Commission (CEIC) announced that the 2020 Employment Insurance (EI) premium rate will be $1.58 per $100 of insurable earnings – a decrease of 4 cents for employees compared to the 2019 rate, and a decrease of 6 cents to $2.21 for employers who pay 1.4 times the employee rate.

Why shop access to vehicle data is so important for the car owner: "Not only do car owners pay up to 30% more for service at dealerships, but for rural motorists the nearest dealership is often 50 or 60 miles away."

To get the talent they need, companies will have to step up recruiting and assess who in their current workforce can be retrained to gain new skills. They must offer that training or collaborate with educators to develop it.
