AIANTA Highlights for the Coming Week
Biden Lifts Restrictions on Canada
The Biden Administration has announced that it will lift travel restrictions at the borders of Canada and Mexico at the beginning of November to fully vaccinated people traveling by air and land. Those traveling by plane, will be required to present a pre-departure negative COVID-19 test 72 hours before their departure. This will mark a new, much-awaited time of recovery for travel and tourism after nearly 19 months of border closures. We are all excited to re-welcome our friends from Canada and Mexico to Indian Country.

Congratulations to our friend Crystal Wahpepah
Congratulations to Crystal Wahpepah on the opening of her brand new restaurant Wahpepah's Kitchen in Oakland, California. This Indigenous kitchen celebrates Native food inspired by Wahpepah's grandmother's cooking as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options and will open at the end of this month.

Congratulations AIANTA Board Members
We’d like to send a warm congratulations to our Board treasurer Lora Ann Chaisson (United Houma Nation) on being elected as the Southeastern Alternate Area Vice President for the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).

Another shout out goes to Camille Ferguson (Sitka Tribe of Alaska) on being re-elected as a Board member to the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA).

We’re excited to have these wonderful representatives advocating for the importance of tourism in Native communities.
