Webinar: Planning for Cultural Tourism
September 27; 10 am - 11:30 am MDT
In 2008, Akwesasne leaders built their “Sharing the Spirit” initiative, which eventually paved the way for the formalized Akwesasne Cultural Tourism Strategic Action Plan. Today, implementation of the plan has led to a new tourism website, Akwesasne.travel, elevated tourism training for Akwesasne artisans, and increased awareness of Akwesasne culture and heritage. Join Penny Peters, Travel Industry Development Manager, Raeann Adams, Community Planner, and Gail McDonald, Akwesasne Heritage Complex Project Developer, and the Native American Traveling College in discussing how the strategic plan was conceptualized and how it continues to guide Akwesasne’s tourism planning.

AIANTA Town Hall Series:
Tourism Marketing Initiatives for 2022 and Beyond
September 29; 1 p.m. MDT
As AIANTA enters its new fiscal year, the association is rolling out an exciting series of new partner opportunities. Joining AIANTA’s already established partnerships with the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, the Lewis & Clark National Trail and the Native American Agriculture Fund, we will also be celebrating 250 (and more) years of Native American history in conjunction with America250 Partnership. Additionally, we’re rolling out a new collaboration with Leave No Trace, an organization that strives to minimize travelers’ impact on the destinations they visit. AIANTA encourages everyone to join this interactive discussion of our partnership programs and how they can lead to greater prosperity for tribal communities.

America250 Advisory Council Roundtable
I'm honored to announce that I've been invited to join the America250 Advisory Council Roundtable as a panelist. Join me and my nine esteemed co-panelists on Sept. 30 as we share what inspired us about America 250's mission and how our councils will jointly create the most inclusive commemoration in history.

America250 is a multiyear effort to commemorate the semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary, of the United States. The commemoration period began in 2020, culminates on July 4, 2026, and officially concludes in 2027.
