Funding Opportunities to Conserve and Restore Tribal Forestland Webinar

January 17, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Mountain Time

A conversation with the USDA Forest Service and special guests about how the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program, Landscape Scale Restoration, and Recreation Economy for Rural Communities can be used as tools to conserve and restore forestland and cultural resources and in turn support Tribal tourism and recreation efforts.

The Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (Community Forest Program) of the Forest Service offers a unique opportunity for communities to acquire and conserve forests that provide public access and recreational opportunities, as well as, protect vital water supplies and wildlife habitat. The Landscape Scale Restoration Program promotes collaborative, restoration of priority forest landscapes. Join us as the USFS explains how these programs can help build tourism and recreation efforts in your area.

Scholarship Deadline for ASU/AIANTA Sustainable Tourism for Native Nations and Communities is Monday, January 31, 2023

AIANTA, in collaboration with the School of Community Resources & Development, in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU), Downtown Phoenix, has designed a Professional Certificate Program in Sustainable Tourism for Native Nations and Communities Certificate. The online program brings together industry experts who help students explore the importance of sustainable tourism with a specific emphasis on American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian cultural tourism efforts.


The 15 scholarships for the course are funded by NATIVE Act funds through a collaboration with the Office of Indian Economic Development.

Hidden Treasures Amazing Collections and Resources at the Indian Arts and Craft Board Museums Webinar

January 24, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Mountain Time

In this session, we will reintroduce the Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB). Best known for their enforcement of the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, this webinar will showcase their regional museums and some of their programs which can be replicated elsewhere, including art directories, promoting local art and history, and learn about the invaluable resources available. As it says on the Department of the Interior website, "The Interior Museum Program looks after one of the largest and most important museum collections in the world."


Professionals from the US Department of the Interior Indian Arts and Crafts Board will share how tribal arts collections can be used to promote local artists, enrich their education through sharing skills and resources like their Art Directory and event calendar.

AIANTA Tourism & Hospitality Scholarship Deadline is Friday, April 28, 2023

AIANTA is proud to offer the Tourism & Hospitality Scholarship, which provides American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students with financial assistance towards a degree or certificate in hospitality, tourism, recreation, culinary arts or related fields.

Each year, AIANTA awards five individuals who have met all scholarship application criteria.

Award Amount: Students are awarded $1,000 per semester (fall and spring semester only). Each student can earn a maximum award of $2,000 per academic school year.


The deadline to apply is April 28, 2023 (Academic School Year 2023- 2024).
