AIBL will recognize

National Education Week (November 18, 2023,

at the LaPrade Library in Chesterfield, VA)

National Education Week was first observed in 1921, to address the shortcomings of the American education system that had resulted in a startlingly high rate of illiteracy in the country—nearly 6%!

Ever since, the week preceding Thanksgiving has been earmarked as National Education Week to spark awareness, curiosity, and excitement for learning. The goal is to shine an extra light on education during this week while celebrating education's vital place in our society.

The AIBL team will recognize National Education Week emphasizing biblical literacy.

What is real teaching?

Real teaching means aiming to gain understanding, not just acquiring knowledge. Teaching is not about theorems, laws, and facts; it is about the wisdom to understand concepts and principles and to be able to differentiate between right and wrong or the true and the false.

"If a country is to be corruption-free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother, and the teacher."-Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

Teaching is Still

 a Special Calling!

"Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly."-Berean Standard Bible

In the Words of a Teacher:

"When I happened to be concerned about issues of discipline, motivation, or student needs, the answers came to me. So, the "right way" to prepare lessons is to cogitate over them in terms of student and classroom needs in order to open the door to inspiration...That is what is different about being a teacher versus being a stockbroker or a plumber. I believe that teaching is a higher calling and, as such, is entitled to extra help. Where that help comes from is for you to decide. Take it for what it is worth religiously, ethically, morally, and spiritually, but that help is real." -Ben Johnson (Edutopia, 2008)

Teachers

Teachers proudly stand in front of the class

With knowledge and influence

en masse;

Igniting a flame in curious minds

Proficiently as the lessons unwind.

Teaching,

a calling that burns deep inside

To instruct thirsty, inquisitive minds.

Installing passion that leads to success.

Inspiring pupils to give of their best.

Encouraging scholars' creative gifts,

Praising, applauding whatever it is.

Those who are taught well live well, get ahead.

Blessed are the teachers; it has to be said.

It doesn't go unnoticed, the work involved,

Developing great people to evolve.

All humble, nurturing teachers out there,

Thank you all for your compassionate care.

Those who go on to find their hopes and dreams,

Remember the teachers who cast the beams.

  • What is the biblical view on the responsibilities of classroom teachers?

  • What are educators learning from experience?

  • Can biblical principles strengthen American society?

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
