HIPAA VIOLATIONS
Friendly reminder, HIPAA prohibits you from talking about other clients. Information is not to be discussed with other Caregivers who are NOT listed in the respected clients folder.
DOH / CTA are looking for Caregivers to document the following:
  • Maintaining Infection Control in their home by: Placing a bottle of hand sanitizer in each client room, bathroom and common area (living room and dining room).
  • Bottle of sanitizer or wipes kept at the entrance of the home for visitors.
  • Sanitize or wipe counters, toilet, bathroom, doorknobs and clients tables at least 2-3X/day.
  • Frequent hand washing (help clients to wash their hands also).
  • Social distancing of each client if possible. Do not isolate clients in their own room. Allow them to come out one at a time (maintaining social distancing).
Caregivers must wear a mask when providing direct care to clients. Provide masks to each client (if possible/and only if client is able to wear a mask), use while talking to visiting nurses or other household members.

Post COVID-19 precautions at the door, visible to people who are visiting. If family members want to visit, you can not refuse. Explain that you are adhering to NO VISITORS to keep exposure low. If they insist: Have the client go out to the patio if they can sit. Limit visit to 10-15 minutes. Have the visitor wash/sanitize their hands, wear a mask and observe social distancing. It's your option to check the temperature of the visitor or have a questionnaire ready for them to fill out.
ALL MONITORING RN'S WILL CHECK OR ASK IF YOU ARE PRACTICING ABOVE ITEMS. RN'S TO DOCUMENT OBSERVATION / ANSWERS AS REQUIRED BY THE STATE / FEDERAL LAW.
REMINDER
Caregivers / SCG's and household members go out into the community to do errands, groceries, etc. Some of you hold a regular job. Therefore, you are EXPOSED. You are responsible to protect your clients, limit their exposure by wearing your PPE when taking care of them/if you are in close contact with them. Your clients are elderly, highly susceptible to catching the COVID-19, flu symptoms and other transmittable diseases.
