Apply for Travel Funding for the 2023 ADVANCE Equity in STEM Community Convening!
We are excited to announce that, thanks to supplemental funding from NSF ADVANCE and The Kaleta A. Doolin Foundation, we can offer travel grants to join us at the 2023 ADVANCE Equity in STEM Community Convening (ADVANCE EiSCC)!
About the ADVANCE EiSCC
The ADVANCE EiSCC brings together a variety of change makers from higher education, professional societies, industry, government, and non-profits in an engaged exchange of knowledge, resources, and support to drive systemic change in STEM with a focus on intersectional gender equity for STEM faculty. Regardless of whether you have an NSF ADVANCE grant or not, if you are interested in driving systemic change in STEM, the ADVANCE EiSCC is for you!
As an initiative that centers social justice and equity, we strive to co-create safe(r) spaces with our community that honor the worth and dignity of our participants. ADVANCE EiSCC registrants must not only agree to upholding an environment free of discrimination, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm, but also commit to a code of conduct that embraces this community vision.
About the Travel Grants
Travel grants are intended to financially support faculty, administrators, and employees in attending the 2023 ADVANCE EiSCC so that they can engage in discussion, networking, and resource exchange centered on advancing intersectional gender equity in the STEM academy. In an intentional effort to support grantees who are often underfunded and excluded from such spaces, selection criteria will prioritize applicants who:
- are faculty, administrators, or employees from community and technical colleges, minority-serving institutions, or non-academic STEM equity focused organizations,
- have little or no travel funding,
- have not attended a national ADVANCE PI meeting before,
- are engaged in work that advances intersectional gender equity in academic STEM, and/or
- belong to a marginalized social group or groups in STEM, particularly women and gender expansive applicants who experience additional forms of marginalization.
-
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will close on May 9, 2023 at noon ET. We encourage applicants to submit their applications by April 30, 2023. Awardees will be notified by noon ET on May 10, 2023. Awardees must reserve their hotel rooms at the conference venue by 5pm ET on May 11, 2023.
Apply for travel funding here! Each travel grant will cover transportation, meals, lodging, registration, and relevant travel expenses.

MIT Solve is thrilled to announce that the Indigenous Communities Fellowship is open now through Tuesday, May 9, 2023 | |
|

The 2023 Indigenous Communities Fellowship seeks Native innovators in the US and Canada who are using traditional knowledge and technology to meet their communities' social, environmental, and economic goals. Fellows also join a year-long cohort with other innovators where they can present their solutions to potential funders at the Solve Challenge Finals in NYC during the United Nations General Assembly in September, at our Equity Summit, and Solve at MIT on the MIT campus in May.
To that end, MIT Solve seeks solutions that:
- Strengthen sustainable energy sovereignty and support climate resilience initiatives by and for Indigenous peoples.
- Support the creation, growth, and success of Indigenous-owned businesses and promote economic opportunity in Indigenous communities.
- Drive positive outcomes for Indigenous learners of any age and context through culturally grounded educational opportunities.

The FY23 Exchange Network Solicitation Notice has been published on Grants.gov
Applications are due at 11:59 PM ET on June 2nd, 2023.
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 Exchange Network (EN) Grant Program Solicitation Notice (SN) has been published to Grants.gov and is available here: https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=347503. Applications are due to EPA by 11:59 PM Eastern Time, Friday, June 2nd, 2023. Additional guidance tools, including optional fillable templates for the cover letter, project narrative (work plan), and budget narrative attachment form, plus a new budget calculation tool and attachment examples, will shortly be made available for applicants on the EN website. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the new FY23 SN, as significant updates have been made since the FY22 version. Information on applicant webinars will be provided shortly.
The purpose of the Exchange Network (EN) grant program is to foster better environmental management and decision-making through increased access to timely, high quality, environmental information. An applicant’s proposed project goals and outputs should align with one or more EN Funding Areas as described in Section I-B of the SN and EPA’s FY 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. Applicants are encouraged to read the full text of the Strategic Plan at:
https://www.epa.gov/planandbudget/strategicplan.
EPA expects to award 25-35 grants of up to $500,000 each, totaling approximately $9,500,000 in FY23. The exact number of grants awarded will depend on the number of applications submitted to EPA by the application deadline, the amounts of proposed project budgets, and the quality of proposals. Please be aware: award funding thresholds have increased from prior years by $100,000. Individual applicants can now request up to $300,000 and eligible EN partnerships can request up to $500,000.
EPA only accepts project proposals for EN grants submitted electronically through Grants.gov unless applicants have a waiver. Please allow for enough time to successfully submit your application and allow for unexpected errors requiring you to resubmit. EPA anticipates that it will announce selection decisions around August 2023, and tentatively plans to issue awards by October 2023.
