With a distinct passion for helping people, her areas of expertise include developing top talent, succession planning for critical roles, helping organizations thrive in dynamic conditions and leading complex change in the people and culture function for staff worldwide. | |

Prior to joining AIHEC, Kea served as the Director of Human Resources for North America at Concentrix supporting the Apple, Pearson, and Intuit accounts for 3 years. Previously, she spent 13 years at AT&T, where she held positions leading compensation, workforce planning, and performance management. She played a significant role in the successful initial launch of Apple’s first iPhone and traveled across the southeast region as one of the top strategic partner area managers.
Active in several professional organizations, Kea is proud to hold SHRM, HRCI, and project management certifications as well as serving as a mentor for emerging HR talent as they navigate the certification process.
Kea is a recipient of several CEO and President’s awards from the companies she’s served. These annual awards honor executives who have made significant contributions in the field of HR practice, compensation, and technology.
With a Master of Business Administration from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Alabama; she has a healthy respect for education and providing pathways to learning for all people. Her newfound passion for traveling and exploring new cultures naturally lent itself to her current hobby of learning cultural dances from all over the world.

The Chronicle of Higher Education Announces Two Diversity in Media Scholarships for College Students | |
|
The Chronicle of Higher Education is accepting applications for two scholarships and internships for exceptional students who want to enter the journalism and media fields, the Diversity in Journalism Scholarship and the newly created Diversity in Multimedia Business Scholarship.
Each scholarship includes:
· $10,000 award
· Admission to The Chronicle's summer editorial reporting internship
· Admission to The Chronicle’s summer multimedia/business internship program
· Stipend towards transportation, food, and housing costs
The submission deadline for each scholarship is February 29, 2024. Finalists will be selected and interviewed by The Chronicle’s scholarship committee, with the winners being announced the week of May 6, 2024. For more information, please contact scholarships@chronicle.com.

The Environmental and Natural Resources Technology (EARTh) Center and its partners are excited to invite you to attend a five-day Fellows Institute (funded by the National Science Foundation), designed to provide a unique professional development opportunity for two-year college and high school educators.
Themed around the Mississippi River, participants will learn about challenges and opportunities related to the Mississippi River ecosystem. Participants will learn from expert speakers, embark on engaging field trips, travel the river by voyageur canoe, and much more. Field trips will include tours of agricultural, industrial, and ecological sites. Fellows will network to gain ideas for developing curricula that inspire and prepare students for a career in conservation and natural resource management.
We will be accepting 15 participants on a competitive basis. Our goal is to accommodate as many institutions as possible.
We are extending this offer to current faculty and staff in conservation, natural resources, and environmental programs; however, if you are not the correct person, please distribute this email and attachment to the appropriate faculty at your institution.
Travel, lodging, and most meals will be provided.

Deans for Impact is accepting applications for Impact Academy, a year-long fellowship for deans and leaders in educator preparation who are interested in growing their ability to lead transformative change. Leaders will receive 1:1 coaching, participate in monthly cohort learning sessions, and engage in peer consultancies aimed at grounding their leadership and programs in practices that champion rigorous, equitable, and inclusive learning experiences for aspiring teachers and the PK-12 students they’ll serve.

Digital Legal Research Lab to Host 10-week Summer Program

The University of Nebraska - Lincoln's Digital Legal Research Lab will host a 10-week Summer Program funded by NSF to host 8 undergraduates from outside of UNL who work with us on collaborative and their own individual research projects. We also offer extensive mentoring and professional development, hoping to encourage students to develop their scholarly identity and pursue research careers in law and society fields.
Our lab applies digital and critical legal research methodologies to highlight marginalized people's legal strategies in challenging their oppression and exploitation with an interest in promoting racial and gender equity in the present. We are a partnership between Department of History faculty and Center for Digital Research in the Humanities staff to provide undergraduate and graduate students with intensive training in critical legal studies, mixed-methods social science research skills, and digital analysis tools.
Our applications are open for our priority deadline of February 1 and applications will close March 1.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Internships and Fellowship – Application deadline EXTENDED | |
|
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), 1994 Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) Program has announced that the deadlines for the 2024 Summer Internships Program and the Terra Preta do Indio Tribal Fellowship have been extended to January 30, 2024.
USDA 1994 Tribal Scholars Program, will provide full tuition, employment, housing or a living stipend, employee benefits, fees, and books each year for up to 4 years to selected students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, food science, natural resources science, or a related academic discipline.
Terra Preta do Indio Tribal Fellowship, seeks to provide land-grant institutions, and Tribal High School faculty and staff with the opportunity to address challenges in Tribal agriculture and for USDA to provide training about resources and opportunities available at USDA. This fellowship will offer the opportunity to develop collegial relationships with other 1994 tribal land-grant colleges and universities.

Hundreds of scholarships in all areas of study are available for Indigenous students with the American Indian College Fund. Those attending tribal colleges and universities can receive additional scholarship support. | |
White House Request for Recommendations for IAIA Board Members | |
|
|
The White House Office of Presidential Personnel is soliciting recommendations for members of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development Board of Trustees. The Institute aims to empower creativity and leadership in Native Arts and cultures through higher education, life-long learning, and outreach.
Voting members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the President and serve for six-year terms. The Board is authorized to formulate the policy of the Institute; to direct the management of the Institute; and to make such bylaws and rules as it deems necessary for the administration of its functions under this title, including the organization and procedures of the Board.
Voting members of the Board are “individuals from private life who are Indians, or other individuals, widely recognized in the field of Indian art and culture and who represent diverse political views, and diverse fields of expertise, including finance, law, fine arts, and higher education administration.”
To ensure that due consideration is given to appropriate regional and tribal representation on the Board, the Board's statute mandates “consult[ation] with the Indian tribes and the various organizations of Indians”, as well as “solicit[ation of] nominations from Indian tribes and various Indian organizations to fill the vacancies.” To that end, the Office of Presidential Personnel requests that recommendations are submitted to Hope Williams, Hope.A.Williams@who.eop.gov, no later than February 15, 2024.

U.S. Department of Agriculture: Agricultural Trade Advisory Committees Membership | |

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee (APAC) are now accepting nominations for the Agricultural Trade Advisory Committees (ATACs). There are six committee sectors available for the 2024-2028 term. The purpose of the committee members is to provide advice to the Secretary of the USDA and USTR, consult regularly on negotiation objectives, and make recommendations on the development and administration of U.S. agricultural trade policy.
The six focus committee sectors are:
· Animals and animal products;
· Fruits and vegetables;
· Grains, feed, oilseeds, and planting seeds;
· Processed foods;
· Sweeteners and sweetener products;
· Tobacco, cotton, and peanuts.
Nominations are due Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. ET. and can be sent to ATACs@usda.gov.

Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services New Grant Program | |

The Department of Education has announced it is accepting applications for fiscal year 2024 for Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities. This personnel preparation program of special education, early interventions, and related services personnel will prioritize Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and other Minority Serving Institutions applications.
The purpose of this program is to prepare scholars to serve children, including infants, toddlers, and youth with disabilities through a bachelor’s degree, certification, master’s degree, education specialist degree, or clinical doctoral degree levels to serve in various settings.
The deadline for applications is February 20, 2024.

Department of Education: Accepting Applications for 2024 Indian Education Discretionary Grants –
Native American Language Program

The Department of Education announced this week that it is accepting applications for the fiscal year 2024 Indian Education Discretionary Grants Program – Native American Language Program. The purpose of this funding is to (1) support schools that use Native American and Alaska Native languages as the primary language of instruction; (2) maintain, protect, and promote the rights and freedom of Native American and Alaska Natives to use, practice, maintain, and revitalize their languages, as envisioned in the Native American Languages Act of 1990; and (3) supports the Nation’s First Peoples’ to maintain and revitalize their languages and cultures, and to improve educational opportunities and student outcomes within Native American and Alaska Native communities.
The Department of Education will be hosting a pre-application meeting on December 26, 2023. Applications will be due on March 7, 2024.

FAFSA Update

This week the Department of Education released state-by-state data and details showing that the simplified, redesigned, and streamlined 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will help more low-income students receive Pell Grants. With this redesign, this application will aid 1.5 million more students in receiving the maximum amount for Pell Grants. These changes and redesigns are a part of the Department of Education’s implementation of the bipartisan FUTURE Act and the FAFSA Simplification Act.
