2024 AIM Immunization Champion:

Theresa Covell, RN, BSN

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2024 AIM Immunization Champion Award for Massachusetts: Theresa Covell, RN, BSN, former Assistant Public Health Nurse at the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment.

Theresa goes "above and beyond" to promote vaccinations. To reduce language barriers for patients she had registration, consent, and insurance forms translated into Portuguese and Spanish, and spearheaded the creation of a flyer on HPV vaccination, also in multiple languages.

Theresa also began stocking and recommending the HPV vaccine at the public health nurse office, and organized vaccination clinics for students, immigrants, seniors, and other underserved populations. Ms. Covell has also presented webinars that detail her creative approaches to increasing local vaccinations, so that others may follow her lead.

We congratulate Theresa and wish her continued success in her vaccination efforts on Cape Cod.

"Theresa goes above and beyond to reduce barriers that prevent people from getting vaccinations. More Barnstable County residents are vaccinated because of her dedication"
