During his time in the Air Force he commanded the 188th Wing and the 188th Mission Support Group, Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Arkansas, the 214th Operations Support Squadron, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, and the 30th Reconnaissance Squadron Detachment 1, Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan. Additionally, he served as Chief of Executive Engagements, Office of the Director of the Air National Guard, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He has deployed as a liaison officer to an air operations center and multiple special operations joint task forces.
He served as a military command pilot with over 3,300 hours in multiple manned and unmanned military aircraft. He has commanded combat missions in operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Freedom Sentinel, Resolute Support, and Juniper Shield. Additionally, he has over 600 hours in multiple single-engine civilian aircraft.
Dillon R. Patterson is retiring from the US Air Force on August 1, 2024. Following 23 years of military service, Dillon will pursue training to become a full-time Christian minister. He has been married to Jill Patterson since 2022. Together Dillon and Jill have
seven children and three grandchildren.
