The employees of Hawaiian Airlines cargo are always so helpful and professional when we are shipping out our dogs. We wanted to say thank you....for all their help.
We would like to introduce you to Patty Needham. Patty has been fostering with us for a while now and really enjoys dogs that need medical care. She successfully rehabilitated both Honomu (a stray) from his snare neck wound and Ilono (also a stray) from her massive Bladder stone! Both dogs went on to find amazing homes. Patty currently has two AIR dogs from a Hospice patient and continues to take the dogs to visit her to provide her comfort in knowing her dogs are cared for.
We appreciate Patty on our AIR team and love working with her sweet personality and willingness to always help.
We love you Patty!
Let's recap February!
Greetings Dog Lovers!
2020 is off to a great start! We really appreciate all the help and support we get from our community and even dog lovers who help from even further away. We appreciate you! We can do none of this without you.
Our Guinea Pig Program is in full swing. Julie Kron and her volunteers are graciously going to be handling that part of our Rescue Programs. She will be going into classrooms and talking to teachers and their students about spay/neuter, compassion and care of all animals....while utilizing guinea pigs as the classroom project.
We have been transporting many more animals recently to WA, Oregon, and even Canada! We always make sure it's a like minded rescue organization and love the animals like we do. These animals go on to great homes!
Aloha Ilio Rescue is very committed to ensuring our islands animals have a place to go that is safe and has their best interest always. We can only do this with your support and help.
Thank you for your monthly recurring donations and also supporting us by transporting dog food for us from Kona to the East side. We also appreciate you picking us as your Amazon Smile choice of non-profits. Keep watching as more programs emerge and more lifesaving efforts are announced this year. Thank you....and as a community team...lets keep moving forward and making changes...one dog at a time.

Why does my dog need to see a Veterinarian when not sick?
One thing you should do as soon as you add a new puppy or dog to your family is to schedule an appointment with your Veterinarian.
Puppies and dogs coming from shelter or rescue situations may not have had enough individual attention over a long enough period to detect subtle health problems.
Your puppy or dog may be “current” on vaccinations and deworming, etc. but that does not mean he/she doesn’t still require booster vaccines, repeat deworming or monthly treatments for heartworm, fleas, ticks, etc.
Although experienced and knowledgeable about dogs, shelter or rescue personnel may not know what is best for your pet’s new lifestyle and home location. Your Veterinarian tailors the vaccine and preventative schedule to best suit your unique situation.
It is important to establish a relationship with a Veterinarian.
Veterinarians will typically only take your pet as an emergency patient if you are already an established client. There are many people and pets on the island and not a lot of Veterinarians to meet their needs.
There are many ways to care for pets, and it is important for you to find the Veterinarian that matches the way that makes sense to you. You may need to ask your friends and family for recommendations or try more than one Veterinarian.
Pets age much faster than people. If you go by the old convention, if your dog goes to the Veterinarian every year, it is like you going to the doctor every 7 years. If a dog skips a year, it is like you not going to your doctor for 14 years. Many irreversible conditions can happen in that time.
Keep your dog safe, happy and healthy....
