ISSUE NUMBER 17

MARCH 2023

A MESSAGE FROM NICK HARITOS

Hello Team,

Spring is finally upon us, and all things considered it was a pretty good winter.

Snow accumulation went down, and sales went up. In a few more weeks, not only will the birds be humming but the factory will be as well with new equipment to support our continued growth. And this means more opportunity for us all.

Your efforts contribute to our success and that equates to more opportunity including our new and improved tuition reimbursement plan as well as other enhanced benefits (read on for more).

Thank you for everything you do. Enjoy the warm weather!

Nick

Reminder to Check Your Quarantined Messages

AIS continues to employ new and better methods of filtering email messages and eliminate junk mail (aka “spam”). However, it is still possible (and always will be) that the filter incorrectly categorizes legitimate messages as spam (aka “false positives.”) To make sure you do not miss any important messages, remember to check your quarantined folder by following these steps:

  1. Click this link https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine
  2. Log in to the Microsoft portal using your normal user ID and password.
  3. Respond to authentication request.
  4. You will be presented with a list of quarantined messages.

To release a message:

  1. Review the list of messages.
  2. If you identify a message to release, check the box to the left of the message.
  3. Click “Release” at the top of the list.

Remember, there’s a reason the message is being quarantined so review the message details before releasing it. When in doubt, do not release it.

Remember to check your junk mail periodically.

Outlook's Junk Mail Settings

We've switched to a new email marketing company, Constant Contact for the Insider and dealer communications. Some users may have adjusted settings to allow Outlook to filter email. If so, please be sure to adjust your junk mail settings to that it allows emails from email group marketing+ais-inc.com@ccsend.com.

HERE'S HOW TO FIX IT

To prevent specific emails from being marked as junk (and sent to your junk mail folder), please follow these directions.

  • Open Outlook
  • Scroll down until you see junk mail
  • Open the folder, if there is email that you want to let through to your inbox, do this:
  • Right click on the message – go to junk, a menu will appear, select one of the two following options:
  • Never Block Sender | This will prevent any email from that person from going to the junk mail folder
  • Never Block Domain | This will prevent any email from any user at a trusted company from going to the junk mail folder.

NOTE: This folder is separate from the outside “Quarantine” as noted above.

REMEMBER

It's always a good idea to check quarantine and junk folders regularly to ensure you're not missing emails that you need.

Using Microsoft Teams

for Collaboration

Most of the office staff already use Microsoft Teams for meetings, but did you know that you can use Teams for everyday collaboration? Collaborate from anywhere you can connect to the internet to:

  • Call coworkers (both voice and video calls),
  • Chat with coworkers via screen messages,
  • Participate in meetings
  • Collaborate with people in the Haworth organization,
  • Load it on your smartphone or tablet to take it on the go.

IT encourages everyone to use Teams to its full capacity as they will be expanding its use in several ways this year.

Please note: If your computer is still running Windows 7, you will need to access Teams on the Office 365 website. IT is working on upgrading everyone.

Have You Added Your Signature to Your Mobile Device?

Many of us are on the move and send emails from our cell phones. Yet, quite a few have not added their signature leaving some looking for contact information.

Here's how to add it:

Open the Outlook app on your phone and click on the settings gear icon (You may have to swipe right to access the settings.).

Under settings (in the mail section), click on signature.

Add the signature that you use for desktop emails from AIS to this mobile account. Be sure to include your name, title, and mobile and work numbers in your signature.

Tap the checkmark to save the settings.

Keep Your Outlook Schedules Up-to-Date

To assist others as they schedule meetings, please use your Outlook calendars and keep them up-to-date. When booking a meeting, remember to use the scheduling assistant (located in the menu bar and shown below in the second image) to see participants' availability.

Tips to Prevent Being Scammed

  1. Scammers pretend to be from a familiar organization or agency, and may include email attachments with official-looking logos, seals, signatures, or pictures of credentials.
  2. Scammers mention a problem or a prize. They may say your information was compromised or ask for personal information - don't fall for it.
  3. Scammers pressure you to act immediately. They may threaten you with arrest or legal action.
  4. Scammers tell you to pay using a gift card, prepaid debit card, wire or money transfer, cryptocurrency, mail cash or transfer money to an account.

IT Team Aims to Manage Spam

The IT department has introduced a new email scanning tool to help alleviate spam.

Some messages will now include tags in the subject line to help you prioritize viewing:

  • [BULK] - marketing messages sent by a brand to multiple recipients at once.
  • [MARKETING] - promotional messages to a list of subscribers collected through giving them an offer.

These tags are a visual queue regarding the type of content. If you receive a tagged message which you feel should not be tagged, please contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.

Veterans Helping Veterans

This past February, AIS donated furniture to the Fitchburg Veteran’s Center in Mass.

Here's what Michele Marino, the city's veterans commissioner, had to say.

I was ecstatic to see the set up when I came in this morning! It’s absolutely perfect! The Veteran organizations are so happy with the office space, and to finally have a proper work area to be able to conduct their business in an organized and professional manner.

The space will also provide the Veteran organizations with a place to hold monthly meetings, and more importantly a place to be able to help their fellow Veterans whom might be in need of assistance. .

You and AIS have helped make it possible for all of the Fitchburg Veterans Organizations to finally have a home under one roof. The organizations that will be utilizing the cubicles are the Fitchburg Veterans Council, the American Legion Post 10, the Fitchburg Marine Corps League, and the Fitchburg Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30.
