Bond construction is underway
Facilities Update
After many months of planning, the first construction projects funded by the 2014 Bond package are underway.

The AISD took full advantage of the summer months to get a lot of work done at Workman Junior High, Ousley Junior High and Ferguson Education Center. These projects are just the beginning though  as all AISD campuses will receive improvements during the bond's five-year implementation. In fact, by next summer, 44 schools will have construction projects underway or already finished. The bond is also funding several new districtwide facilities, along with two new elementary schools.

Elimination of instrument fees sparks student involvement
Fine Arts Update

This attempt to remove barriers so more students can participate in fine arts seems to have paid off immediately with increased student participation in the 2014-2015 school year. Bond funds are helping pay for the additional instruments and replace older instruments with higher quality pieces.

So far, seven schools have been wired and had the new cameras installed.

"We have been tracking 30 students on seven buses to make sure that the GPS is working correctly and to make sure that the Zonar is reading and tracking the student data," explained Debbie Swenson, regular education router foreman for the AISD transportation department.

Zonar will improve the safety and security of the AISD transportation system. It has now been installed on all AISD school buses and, once fully operational ...
