Dear Colleagues:
The AIUM leadership has been closely monitoring the situation related to COVID-19 over the past few weeks with the health and safety of our members and their patients, event attendees, staff, partners, and volunteers as the priority. Late yesterday afternoon, the city of New York finally agreed.
As individuals who work in the healthcare arena, you know the true risks associated with this virus. Although they continue to remain relatively low for the majority of our members and attendees, in an effort to help flatten the curve and keep the focus of healthcare workers on helping stop the spread of this virus, the AIUM leadership unanimously
made the decision to cancel AIUM 2020
, which was scheduled to take place March 21–25 in New York City.

Over these last few weeks, we have been bolstered by the passion our community has for this society and the quality of education it produces. When we needed documentation of travel restrictions, we got hundreds of responses. AIUM members took to social media in an effort to show support and help in any way they could. There were even attendees begging us NOT to cancel because of how much they value the Annual Meeting.
This support and information helped the AIUM as we worked diligently behind the scenes with our partners, legal counsel, and leadership to make this decision.
In the 70-year history of the AIUM, this is the first time we have had to cancel the Annual Meeting. We know, and appreciate, that a TON of work went into preparing for AIUM 2020. A huge thanks goes to the community leaders and committee members who dedicated countless hours to make AIUM 2020 amazing. The same goes for the AIUM staff who have been preparing for this meeting for nearly a year.
At this time, we appreciate your patience as we work to determine if and how the planned content may be shared further. We are exploring other ways to present the content you were all expecting. To that end, we welcome your suggestions and ideas.
This unprecedented action has resulted in quite a few logistical items that need to be resolved and we ask for your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns that are not addressed in this message, please let us know by emailing
