Floorcovering Elements to Consider for Senior Living

Maybe you're building a new senior living community or residential care facility. Or maybe you're looking at updating existing properties. Either way, you're going to be investing a significant amount of money in floorcovering.

Carpet has many advantages for senior living - including offering a more residential feel, comfort underfoot and noise reduction. It's an excellent choice for common spaces such as dining rooms, corridors, lounge areas and exercise rooms.

Plus, it's less expensive to maintain than hard surface flooring. With proper maintenance, carpet in senior living environments can last many years. In fact, you're more likely to replace your carpet to update the look rather than because it has worn out.

The infographic from AJAS Platinum Partner J+J Flooring explains how you can protect your floorcovering investment. Click on the icon below to see the full-size infographic.

The AJAS E-update launched the Philanthropy Phlog last year to offer insight and information on development issues. This phlog is by Judy Ludin, chief development & community relations officer at Menorah Manor in St. Petersburg, FL. Her essay recently appeared in ejewishphilanthropy.com. In case you missed it, we are reprinting it here.

My dear sweet mother, Marietta Drucker, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2019, at the age of 91.  She lived the last 8 months of her life in the Marion and Bernard Samson Nursing Center, where I have been an employee for 29 years. I really thought I knew everything about Menorah Manor, but when Mom moved here, I realized there were many things I did not know - or fully appreciate.

This video is from the Interdenominational Prayer for Peace ceremony, held in November in memory of victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting. The Hebrew Home at Riverdale unveiled a piece of art entitled Ray of Hope, which was commissioned by the community to mark the occasion. Ray of Hope is the handiwork of artist Cris Shakeshaft.
