ONLINE COURSE

Promo Code: LEADAJA (20% discount for AJA members)

In corrections, leadership doesn’t just set the tone. It defines the culture. Morale, performance, and retention all trace back to one role: the supervisor. Yet most step into leadership with little preparation for the people-centered challenges they’ll face.

This course bridges that gap. Featuring insights from more than twenty respected voices across the field, this course shares what experienced jail leaders wish they had known earlier in their careers. You’ll learn how to build trust, communicate effectively, and create a culture where people want to work.

Strong leadership isn’t just about running a shift. It’s about shaping an environment where staff feel valued and supported. Because people rarely leave organizations. They leave supervisors.

How a manager leads influences everything: teamwork, safety, professionalism, and job satisfaction. When leaders are intentional, consistent, and authentic, they build stability even in the toughest environments.

Built on the foundation of Brenda Dietzman’s Purposeful, Authentic Leadership course, this program moves from principles to practice, bringing authentic leadership to life in the world of corrections.

Through candid interviews with jail administrators, command staff, and national experts, you’ll gain a front-row seat to the real stories behind effective leadership. They share what worked, what didn’t, and how they grew through the challenges that define this profession.

This isn’t theory. It’s practical, relatable, and designed for real corrections professionals.

Whether you’re stepping into your first supervisory role, preparing for promotion, or filling knowledge gaps that formal training never covered, this course helps you grow with confidence and purpose. Designed as an accessible entry point into leadership development and a bridge toward Certified Jail Manager (CJM) certification, this online course gives you the foundation to lead with intention, authenticity, and courage.

Because leadership starts with you.
