STORIES OF ADA AREA ENTREPRENEURS & INNOVATORS

Live Podcast and Networking at Arbuckle Craft Coffee

How do you build a successful community of entrepreneurs and innovators? How do you bring people together when so much of our lives has been moved to the virtual realm? This is one of the challenges that faces Ashia Todd, Startup Community Manager for the Ada Jobs Foundation. As one of the new Build to Scale hires, Todd is tasked with bringing people together and building a network and community of entrepreneurs, innovators, educators, and other stakeholders in the area. Select Oklahoma Day at the Capitol

What Happened?

Staff with the Ada Jobs Foundation attended the Select Oklahoma Economic Development Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol on March 1st. This event was an opportunity to meet and hear presentations from the House Speaker Charles McCall, Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, and featured a gavel presentation ceremony with Governor Stitt.

Why it Matters:

This event is an important part of how Oklahoma’s Economic Development Community works together to advocate for legislation that supports our efforts to attract and retain industries. This helps our work to bring investment to our companies and provides the environment for new jobs to be created. By working together, the Oklahoma economic development community represented by Select Oklahoma can advocate for key legislation, such as the LEAD Act, which supports efforts to attract large-scale manufacturing projects, or the PREP program, which provides funding to help prepare rural industrial sites for new projects.
