STORIES OF ADA AREA ENTREPRENEURS & INNOVATORS

Snapshot of the Conduit Initiative: A Multi-Pronged Approach to Entrepreneurship

By: Sunnie Dawn Baker

There is no single way to build a tech entrepreneurship ecosystem. There is not a simple set of instructions or a single map or pathway to follow. To make these goals a reality, many pieces must work together in service of the larger goal of helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of starting their own businesses. This approach must work in the present, but also reach into the future. A peek into a single week at the Ada Jobs Foundation illustrates the different ways that the Conduit Initiative staff aims to complete their objectives for both the present and the future.

ROFF ENTREPRENEUR SESSIONS

On February 26th, Matt Stephens, Sunnie Baker, and Jake Cantrell wrapped up their entrepreneur sessions at Roff High School. These sessions, designed for 7th to 12th graders, helped students develop business ideas addressing real-life challenges in their communities. The first session focused on teaching students how to create effective elevator pitches. In the final round, students presented their refined business concepts, discussing their target audience and marketing plans.

Special thanks to Roff High School for hosting the Conduit team, and congratulations to the pitch winners! If your school is interested in hosting an entrepreneur session with students, please contact sbaker@growada.com.

CONDUIT TEAM VISITS ADA HIGH FOR CAREER DAY

They talked to students about their career paths to encourage them to pursue careers they enjoy and consider staying in the community after graduation. Thank you to Ashley McCortney for organizing this event, which helps students to learn about all the great opportunities in the community.

TECH EVENT RECAP

The team discussed the diverse applications of drones across industries, the process of obtaining a drone license, and displayed their own drones. People's Electric Cooperative also joined, showcasing their drone and sharing insights into how local businesses utilize this technology to enhance efficiency, speed, and safety in their operations.
