Chana Stiefel and Susan Gal will discuss their picture book winner, The Tower of Life, Yaffe Eliach’s true story of how she recreated her beloved shtetl; Mari Lowe will take us to a close-knit Orthodox community with a supposedly-haunted mikvah in middle grade winner, Aviva vs. the Dybbuk; and Sacha Lamb will tell us about the journeys of an angel, a demon, and a nice Jewish girl to America in the young adult winner, When the Angels Left the Old Country.

Meet the AJL Fiction Award Winners

Meet Omer Friedlander, winner of the AJL Jewish Fiction Award for his story collection, The Man Who Sold Air in the Holy Land, and honor winners Rachel Barenbaum, author of Atomic Anna, and GennaRose Nethercott, author of Thistlefoot.

Reminders


  • Registration is open! The cost of attending the conference is $180 for AJL members, $90 for retirees, and $40 for students (includes AJL membership through 9/30/2024). The cost for non–AJL members is $290. Registration includes all conference sessions and access to the session videos for up to a year.
