Happy Mardi Gras!

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions

to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987.

Throughout history, recognized or not, women have been at the forefront, breaking barriers, and empowering us to become the best version of ourselves. Whether it is your mother, sister, daughter, friend, or colleague, these women have been a source of

inspiration, motivation, and strength.

Women have changed the world — blazing the trail while battling adversity. Without each one of their contributions,

our world wouldn't be what it is today.

The focus of International Women's Month is to bring attention to the basic rights that all beings should have:

decision making in public and private life, an end of violence against women and girls, achieving gender equality, equal pay, health-care services that respond to their needs and the

empowerment of all women and girls.

Here at the Angela King Gallery we celebrate the work

of 10 women artists, all of whom have had to battle a male

dominated field and have excelled.

Thank you for your support of this woman owned and operated business.

Yours in the struggle,

Angela

Mardi Gras

Big Chief Shaka Zulu

Big Chief Shaka Zulu is a master of Black Masking suit design, an art form specific to New Orleans, Louisiana, which originated as part of the Indigenous and African culture in the city. The intricate suit-building of the New Orleans Black Masking carnival tradition usually involves sewing and designing for one full year, and are colorfully displayed during Mardi Gras, St. Joseph’s Night, and Super Sunday in New Orleans.
