Please see the warning regarding scam emails below. This is an ongoing threat; we should all remain on guard against it.

Shabbat Shalom!

Please join us this Saturday morning for services followed by a special Kiddush sponsored by members of the Board of Governors honoring outgoing president Alan Bleier. The Board thanks Alan for his tireless efforts over the last 3 ½ years and wishes Martin Cohn all the best as he begins his term as president. Thank you to Judy Berlin and committee for preparing the Kiddush. All are welcome.

As we all realize, scam emails are an ongoing threat. Sometimes these scam emails appear to come from people we know and trust. Since email accounts are sometimes hacked, we should be careful even when an email is from a familiar email address.

Judy Berlin is currently dealing with the hacking of her email account. If you receive an email from her account, do NOT respond to it. It may ask whether you order from Amazon. It is not from Judy and is not legitimate.

In an email on Yom Yerushalayim on May 29, we presented a video of highlights from past Cafe Tamar concerts. The video includes segments of 44 performances from 20 Cafe Tamar concerts between 1985 and 2019, plus a bonus clip from 1957-58 (without audio). We are providing information about the video here again to make it easily accessible.

You can view the video on YouTube at any time. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/AnJ8sh1oAHw. The video is just under 80 minutes in length. Feel free to share this link with others who might be interested in seeing the video.

Thanks to all the performers and videographers over the years, who gave us this great material. We are dedicating the video with love to the founders and longtime producers of Cafe Tamar, Faith and Lou Brown.

Mark your calendars for the return of Cafe Tamar on Sunday, May 21, 2023. We will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of Israel's independence, and the concert will be dedicated to our beloved Lou Brown (z"l).

Kol Tuv,
Mark Wagman

If necessary, please update your vaccination record with AKSE

The Board of Governors has adopted a 3-shot standard for an individual to be considered "fully" vaccinated against COVID-19. This standard means that the vaccination database compiled in 2021 must be updated.

If you have not already provided AKSE with proof that meets this newer 3-shot standard, please do so as soon as you can by one of the following methods:
  1. Email bookkeeper@akse.org or a_bleier@verizon.net with an attached copy of your documentation.
  2. Mail a copy of your documentation to the Office at 2412 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806 (enough in advance that it will be on file when you plan to attend a service or other activity).
  3. Present your documentation, in person, to Kathleen Taylor during her office hours of 10 AM to 2 PM, Tuesday-Thursday.
  4. Present your documentation "at the door" when you arrive at a service or activity - Note that digital proof of vaccination cannot be reviewed on Shabbat or Yom Tov.

Currently, only Kathleen Taylor, Alan Bleier, and Alan's designate will review and accept proof of vaccination.
