Our hearts are heavy as we pay our respects to West Hollywood Detective Amber Leist, a 12-year veteran who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Valley Village.

Detective Leist was off-duty on Whitsett Avenue and Riverside Drive when she saw an elderly pedestrian fall in a crosswalk. She got out of her vehicle to assist the pedestrian safely cross the street and was struck by a vehicle while returning to her car.

Detective Leist is survived by two sons, one of which is serving in the Navy.
Our prayers are with her family, coworkers and friends. 

For those of you who are interested in making donations, West Hollywood Station and the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs have partnered to establish an account for anyone wanting to donate. All donations will go to assist Detective Leist's family. 

Donations can be made through the ALADS CARES Foundation by going to our website . All donations to the ALADS CARES Foundation between 1/14/2020 and 2/14/2020 will be for Detective Leist's family.
