December 3, 2018 - ALDE, the international professional association known for Christian Excellence in Philanthropy, announces today that it has hired Laurie Brill as its new Executive Director to succeed retiring Executive Director Phyllis Castens Wiederhoeft.
“We look forward to the direction that Laurie will take ALDE,” said Jason Gerdes, President of the Board of Directors. “Kudos to our search committee for finding some top candidates. We are confident that Laurie is the right person to lead as ALDE begins the next 40 years of strengthening ministry and nonprofit leaders.”
Brill comes to ALDE after nearly three decades working in higher education, most recently as Interim Executive Director and Director of Marketing with the Lutheran Educational Conference of North America.
“The intersection of faith and philanthropy provides a unique lens through which to share and learn,” said Brill. “Members of ALDE are clearly supportive of and invested in each other for the good of God’s kingdom. I value the Board’s deep commitment, and I trust that my experience in association management for a nationwide organization has prepared me to serve as Executive Director of ALDE.”
In February, 2017, Phyllis Castens Wiederhoeft announced that she would be retiring after 17 years leading the organization. “I have loved my time with ALDE,” said Castens Wiederhoeft. “I am proud of our recent rebranding efforts, the branding for our IGNITE annual conference, and our expanding regional fundraising trainings for executive directors and new fundraising staff called Essentials. I am excited to see where Laurie will take the organization, and I look forward to working on a part-time basis with her to provide a smooth leadership transition.”
“We are deeply grateful to Phyllis for her outstanding leadership during her 17 years at the helm,” said Christine Zrinsky, Board President-Elect. “We very much look forward to building upon our accomplishments and working with Laurie to frame a strong future for ALDE.”
