As we all are trying to adapt to a constantly changing “new normal" since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Maryland, our number one goal has to make sure everyone and their families are safe and healthy- so we can get back to work and to our lives. My office has been operating non-stop on constituent issues, and I thank you for your patience during this time.
There are so many challenges many in our communities are facing, from the shuttering of businesses and the loss of jobs, to not being able to visit your loved ones in healthcare and long-term care facilities, and basically losing the freedoms we cherish in our everyday lives.
The stories continue....
No one has all of the answers, but we pledge to do whatever we can to listen to your concerns and to provide you with resources/links that will be helpful to you. There is a lot of information to access, but it changes on a daily basis so please keep reviewing the important new updates.
Many of you have filed for unemployment or other programs offering financial support (see update below), please be patient and persistent. The processors have been inundated but will be supplying retro-active payments to those who are eligible
I have been communicating your concerns with Governor Hogan and his administration. We had a conference call with his staff to discuss what is going on in our communities and the urgent need to plan for getting people back to work.
We cannot continue on the path we are on for an extended period of time. In the meantime, please comply with the social distancing guidelines so that we can stop the spread of this virus once and for all.
Governor Hogan and President Trump have both indicated that they will soon be presenting plans for slowly reopening the economy. Ultimately, it is up to the Governors of the 50 states to lift the restrictions that have been placed upon us. Please pray for them as they contemplate these life and death decisions.
Trust that we will get through this - together- and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In the meantime, we are here for you.
