Assemblymember Bichotte Hermelyn's Statement on the Shooting in Sunset Park
(Brooklyn, NY) -- This morning during the rush hour commute, multiple people were shot, and at least 16 people were injured at the 36th Street subway station in Brooklyn according to authorities. The shooting occurred in Sunset Park. Police are asking any witnesses to call @NYPDTips at #800577TIPS. The public is asked to stay clear of the area. The N/R line is shut down and heavy delays are expected on other lines. The investigation is active and a manhunt is underway for the shooter who was reportedly wearing a gas mask and construction vest. Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn issued the following statement:

"I am sickened by the subway shooting in Brooklyn this morning. The devastating footage shows that even through this horror, New Yorkers are, once again, banding together to help one another. We are a community. We will help our neighbors. While we wait for information in this active investigation, please stay alert. I am praying for those wounded & their loved ones."
