ALICE FOX
Collecting Colours

It is really lovely to be able to use the garden and land as a source of material for the courses that happen here. This last course with Alice Fox was perfect in this setting and students were quickly shown  how to extract colour from numerous plants in the garden.

Students were shown which plants and flowers produced colour and a number of jars were prepared and then the contents used to create painted papers.
The colours were beautiful.

In addition to making the colours and decorating the papers students were also shown how to make different simple book constructions. These books were made from the coloured papers as well as both plain paper and fabric. The silk noile, the fabric used, and plain paper book constructions were used for eco-printing.

Of course, not to miss a trick, threads were also placed in the coloured jars and used to stitch with. A fabulous course Alice.....thank you.
WORKING TOGETHER
'Working with a Broken Line'
Ruth Issett and Bobby Britnell
7/8/9 October 2019
£225

Some years ago now Ruth and I started teaching these joint courses, where students get to benefit from us both but also see us in a working situation, because as one of us teaches the other does the course alongside the students. These courses get students to think in different ways but in a non threatening creative environment.......and of course the workshops are great fun.

The 'line' is an important element of design for artists and stitchers and on this course we will be investigating the use of the 'broken line'.  This adventurous course will challenge students to explore new ways of looking at the 'broken line', through the creative use of mark-making, resists, print and stitch techniques onto both paper and fabric. Whether experienced or not this course will have opportunities for everyone.
Costs include the papers, fabrics and printing media, required for the course.

So why not join us on this course which still has a couple of spaces available.

MOOR ART 1 and 2
Creative Art Classes

For Moor Art 1 Wednesdays ~ Book  HERE
For Moor Art 2 Weekends ~ Book  HERE

Many of you will know that I have been running art classes for many years now. Some of the students have been coming since the groups started others have drifted in and stayed a short while, while others have stayed longer.

Often people say it is a fear of drawing that keeps them away, others that the garden is calling or other demands on their time. Whatever the reason why not give it a try. I offer 6 sessions (£35 x 6 = £210). BUT if you wish to come along just to the first session to see if you fancy the full course then please do (£50 if you just stay for the one class), reduced to £35 if you stay the course!!!!

Here is some of the work that students did last term. This first project had students looking at two different collections of objects, One was floral and the other was more hard edged. After detail observational drawings of each set of objects the students then had to find a way of bringing them together in a composition. Students worked on A1 cartridge paper. I loved the results.

Another project had students decorating papers in different ways and then using these papers in different collage work, which were landscape, abstract and representational. This is just a very small taste of what they did.

In these last two examples the student has completed a collage of the vase of flowers and then she did a tonal drawing of the collage. I love the liveliness in these two pieces.

WEEKEND OPEN STUDIO AT MOOR HALL
with
ART VAN GO
16th and 17th November 2019

Do make a note of this date in your diary as I am sure you will want to join me here. What will you see when you are here? Well some wonderful work of the students, which will also be for sale, along with several other goodies making it an ideal place to do some Christmas shopping. My son Barney makes these beautiful bread boards and the letter openers, which also work well as bone folders.

Art Van Go will be joining us on the Sunday with their shop making your trip here even extra special.

It will also be an opportunity to see the new courses that will be on offer in 2020 and better still an opportunity to book on one or more unless of course you get to do so before this event.

This is the current line-up of tutors, but bookings are not live just yet:

Ruth Issett, Sarah Burgess, Jean Littlejohn, Ruth Kirkby, Matthew Harris, Amanda Clayton, Dorothy Tucker, Jan Beaney, David Tress, Alice Fox, Sue Brown, Jean Draper and of course myself  Bobby Britnell

Light refreshments will be available.

If you are travelling some distance do check out local B&B's in the area that are featured on my  Website

So see you there .
