FROM THE UPCOMING PRESIDENT

A heartfelt thanks!

As the upcoming president, I expect I am speaking for all of us at ALL when I thank President Dianne Tattersall for all she has given to our Academy.

Little did she know, when she accepted the role of Vice President six years ago, what exactly was in store for her. Certainly, she never intended to be President, but with Jim Lathrop’s most unfortunate passing, she stepped right in.

For the last two years, as her Vice President, I got to see how she operated on a daily basis – keeping ALL on its schedule, reminding us of policy and procedure, fighting fires large and small, but always with a laugh and a lightness. She let each volunteer do what they did best, with just a suggestion here and there as we worked through the year’s events.

As I look back, through all the decisions involved in returning to campus while preserving our COVID-inspired remote access, I can’t think of a thing we should have done differently. At our annual meeting, which had an overflow crowd, you could feel the buzz of excitement as we talked of the upcoming semester.

This is the result of a talented and seasoned board of directors and their associated committees, under Dianne’s skilled leadership. Well done Dianne!

Paul Coteus
