MHS TARDY POLICY

We have started taking a closer look at tardies, per period, to ensure that we are maximizing instructional time. Please take some time to discuss our tardy policy with your child so that together we can establish this norm early on.

Students are marked tardy to class if...

  • The student is in the hall when the bell stops ringing.
  • The student is running down the hall when the bell stops ringing.
  • The student is close to the door, but in the hall, when the bell stops ringing.
  • The student is on their way from the restroom, but in the hall, when the bell stops ringing.
  • The teacher has time to close the door while the student is in the hall.
  • The student is bursting through the door when the bell stops ringing.
  • The student has already been to the classroom, but leaves, and the tardy bell stops ringing.

CONSEQUENCES

The first tardy will warrant a warning.

The second tardy, the teacher will contact the parent/guardian.

If the student continues to arrive late, then their grade level administrator will assign consequences per the Student Code of Conduct.

MILTON HALL OF FAME

MILTON IMPROV

Want to try a new, super fun club at MILTON this year?

Come to the Controlled Chaos IMPROV Troupe workshop to see what we’re all about!

Controlled Chaos is a super fun, FUNNY, relaxed student-run IMPROV club that helps all members learn how to think on the spot… and laugh! No experience is necessary and you don’t have to be in any theatre classes to join. The club meets on Wednesday mornings and hosts a few shows in the Blackbox throughout the year so it’s a lower commitment than most. What better way to get through Wednesday Hump Days than to start it laughing? The Improv Troupe holds auditions twice per year, once in the fall and once in the spring.

*Fun Fact: The Milton IMPROV Troupe is a very popular event at MHS as the shows are always sold out! Why? Because laughing is the BEST medicine.

Come join our IMPROV leaders Sarah Lewis, Chris Mayer and Amalia Lotharius for a year of giggles! You’re guaranteed to smile a lot :))

WORLD LANGUAGES

Congratulations to William Swan for his performance on the National Greek Exam. William scored a Blue Ribbon - the highest award in this prestigious national competition. 500 students from across the country took the Introduction to Attic Greek Exam, and only 25 of those earned a blue ribbon. Kudos to this meritorious scholar of the ancient world - his erudition is truly inimitable!

CROSS COUNTRY

The Milton Cross Country teams opened their season with three race wins and one runner-up finish at the Apalachee Opener Meet at Apalachee HS in Winder, GA this past weekend.

Varsity Boys

Milton (1st-41 pts) took down 12 scoring schools in an overwhelming team victory. Senior co-captain Cory Chambers (2nd-16:04) led Milton as he went straight to the front of the race and was in contention to take the overall win the entire contest but eventually settled for runner-up honors while running his all-time best for the distance! The group of junior Zach Patell (8th-17:40), senior Pearson Gillam (9th-17:41) & senior co-captain Oliver Stone (10th-17:42) came in together besting many teams top-3 finishers. To close out the victory for the Eagles, sophomore Justin Sevel (12th-17:55) & seniors Keller Wilson (13th-18:11) & Jack Rea (17th-18:22) beat back many teams’ top-4 & 5 finishers. Gillam recorded an all-time best for the race distance.

Varsity Girls

The 7th-ranked Lady Eagles made quick work of 12 schools in cruising to the opening meet victory! Milton (1st-33 pts) easily outdistanced the Red Elephants of Gainesville (2nd-71 pts) & Oconee County (3rd-76 pts)! Senior Milton newcomer Sydney Anderson (3rd-20:51) led the Lady Eagles for the first time this season! Anderson stayed in the top-6 until the last third of the race before moving up to her final finishing position. Junior Ella Grace Malcom (4th-21:08) was up front the entire race and brought along junior Calista Cacciatore (7th-21:22) & senior Emmaline Kelley (8th-21:22) to push Milton into a commanding position. Final scorer junior Emerson Armistead (16th-22:00) ran to an all-time best to complete the Lady Eagles scoring. Sophomore Macey Schadt (22nd-22:52) & senior co-captain Gabby Beckman (25th-23:18) were the team’s final finishers. Kelley & Armistead ran to all-time bests for the distance.
