EAGLE PRIDE

CROSS COUNTRY

Cory Chambers Named to All-Metro Cross Country Team

Chambers also awarded West Strider of the Month

Milton senior captain Cory Chambers, coming off a very successful final cross-country season for the Eagles, has been named to Atlanta Track Club’s All-Metro Team. The metro area is considered any county that borders Fulton & Dekalb counties, and this award is regardless of school classification. Chambers was selected to be on the 2nd Team comprising the 8th-14th best cross-country runners in the Atlanta metro-area.

Chambers was also selected as the West Stride Running Store (Atlanta, GA) High School Strider of the Month for October based on his race results and his activity in and out of the classroom at Milton.

The Eagle senior had a historic final campaign for Milton with meet wins at the War Eagle Invitational & was Milton’s first region champion since 2017. He had runner-up honors at the Milton Invitational, where he ran the 10th best time ever by an Eagle athlete on Milton’s home course, and at the Apalachee Opener where he raced to close to a minute course personal best. Chambers best two efforts came at the Alexander/ASICS Invitational, where his 15:23 for 5km placed him 15th overall but was the 3rd best performance ever by a Milton athlete on any course in school history & at the GHSA State 7A Championship meet where his 4th place finish was an improvement from last season by 91 places & helped lead the Eagle boys’ team to a 7th place team finish, improving 10 places from the 2021 state meet.

Chambers immediate plans include competing in track this spring in his final season with an eye on the 3200m school record & a return to the state championship meet. His long range plans are to compete in college both in cross country & track and study business.
