WINTERGUARD
Varsity Winterguard competed in the WGI Atlanta Regionals this past weekend at the Buford Arena. We are so proud of them! They had a terrific run in prelims on Saturday with a great score, a 6.6 point increase from last months regionals. Their score placed them in the top half in their category, high enough to bring them back to finals on Sunday. Sunday’s performance was outstanding as well. Final scores will be released later Sunday afternoon.

TRACK & FIELD
The Milton Track & Field teams had a very successful Fulton County Public Schools Championship meet, conducted at Westlake HS on Saturday, with the breaking of a 21-year-old school record and the boys team finishing 3rd while the girls were 9th out of 15 scoring schools.
BOYS
Milton (3rd-75 pts) came home with another trophy from the county championship meet with a flurry of strong performances at the end of the meet to surpass rival Roswell (4th-74pts) by a single point! The highlights of the day for the team were the breaking of the 400-meter record by junior Andrew Sirras (3rd-48.21) breaking the old record of 49.33 set by Sean Bailey in 2002 by over a second! Other highlights included senior captain Devin Dahunsi with his overall win in the long jump (1st-22’7”), his runner-up in the triple jump (2nd-45’10.5”) and his relay carry’s on the 4x100m relay (3rd-42.73) & the 4x400m relay (5th-3:28.99) to push the Eagles to a 3rd place team finish. Senior captain Cory Chambers won the county championship in the 3200m (1st-10:11.54) & was third in the 1600m (3rd-4:26.60) for more valuable team points to help lead the Eagles.
GIRLS
The Lady Eagles (9th-39 pts) beat back 6 scoring schools to finish a solid 9th in the team race. Junior Ella Grace Malcom led Milton with a runner-up in the 1600m (2nd-5:19.40), becoming the 9th best performer in the event in school history. Malcom then came back in the 800m (3rd-2:20.55) and then ran the fastest leg of the 4x400m relay (4th-4:15.58) thus scoring in 3 events. Other top-3 finishes at the meet included the girls 4x800m relay (3rd-10:13.80) made up of senior captain Emmaline Kelley & juniors Leelah Dennis (who also ran in 3 events), Calista Cacciatore & Emerson Armistead. Senior captain Sydney Anderson was a double scorer with the 800m (4th-2:25.81) & the 1600m (6th-5:35.10) & ran a leg of that 4x400m relay, to add valuable points. SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY PROJECT | |
From Wednesday, March 22 to Friday, March 31, our Spanish Honor Society will be partnering with The Pulsera Project, a fair-trade nonprofit organization that seeks to empower, inspire, and educate people in Central America and the U.S.
The Pulsera Project provides sustainable, well-paying work opportunities for artisans in Nicaragua and Guatemala, most of whom make colorful hand-woven bracelets, or “pulseras” in Spanish. The project then creates a market for their artwork by partnering with schools across the U.S.
Pulseras will be sold for $7 here in our school (in the atrium before school and the cafeteria at lunch), and the proceeds will be invested in a wide range of social impact programs in Nicaragua & Guatemala, including:
- Sustained employment for nearly 200 artists
- Secondary education programs
- University scholarships for artisans and their families
- Healthcare for artisans and their families
- A housing program for artisans and their families
- Environmental initiatives
- Support for other social enterprises doing impactful work in these countries
We hope this will be a highlight of the school year as students engage with the beauty of Latin American culture while lending support to these skilled artisans and their communities!
