EAGLE PRIDE

Time Trial Tests Milton Harriers

The Milton Cross Country teams opened their season with their annual time trial meet to show & test their fitness level and to set the roster for the first competitive meet of the season.

GIRLS Race

In a runaway victory, junior Ella Grace Malcom (1st-21:48) led from the start and went on and won the girl’s race by close to 90-seconds! Malcom was the defending time trial winner from 2021 where she ran the 5th-best time ever on the course by a Milton runner. In her first race since moving here from Kansas this summer, senior Sydney Anderson (2nd-23:12) garnered runner-up honors and was followed by fellow senior Emmaline Kelley (3rd-23:43). Junior Calista Cacciatore (4th-24:13) was next after running most of the race with Kelley. Rounding out the top-7 positions and putting themselves in a position to run on the varsity team for the first meet were junior Emerson Armistead (5th-25:08), senior co-captain Gabby Beckmann (6th-25:29) & sophomore Macey Schadt (7th-25:42).

BOYS Race

Just like a repeat of the girl’s race, senior co-captain Cory Chambers (1st-17:36) went straight to the lead and never looked back running the 10th best time on the course by an Eagle runner! Chambers led a strong group of Eagle runners that all finished within 40 seconds of each other showing the Eagles are a very competitive program proving their #8 ranking in Class 7A is warranted. The group of finishers included sophomore Justin Sevel (2nd-18:50), seniors Preston Gillam (3rd-19:04) & Keller Wilson (4th-19:07), senior co-captain Oliver Stone (5th-19:08), junior Zach Patell (6th-19:30) and finally senior Jack Rea (7th-19:46).

Next weekend the Milton Cross Country teams travel to Winder, GA to compete in the Apalachee Season Opener at Apalachee HS where the Eagle teams have had much success over the last 3 years.
