On September 8 and September 22, we will be following an adjusted schedule with an extended advisement. Students will need to bring their computer to their advisement class on these dates.
ADJUSTED BELL SCHEDULE ON MAP TEST DAYS
| |
PERIOD | TIME | 1 | 8:20 - 9:03 | 2 | 9:08 - 9:51 | ADVISEMENT | 9:56 - 11:31 | 3 | 11:36 - 12:19 | 4 | 12:24 - 1:07 | 5 | 1:12 - 1:55 | 6 | 2:00 - 2:43 | 7 | 2:48 - 3:30 | | |
Your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® (in Math and Reading) on a computer or tablet during their advisement class. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers can use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.
MAP Growth tests are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.
Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.
MAP Growth reports also provide typical growth data for students who are in the same grade, subject and have the same starting performance level.
Please encourage your student to do their best on each of these assessments. The staff at Milton will need the data from the assessment to be as accurate as possible.
We are truly excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For more information about MAP Growth, visit NWEA.org/familytoolkit. This website is a valuable resource and videos are available that will help you to understand what the MAP Growth test is and how it can be used to help your student.

During the first week of school, we met with all students across grade levels to discuss expectations for our student body. One of the expectations discussed was getting to class on time.
School begins at 8:20AM and ends at 3:30PM
Students are to be IN THE CLASSROOM BY 8:20AM or they are considered tardy to 1st period. Students have five minutes between each period during the school day. It is the expectation that students are in their assigned classroom when the tardy bell rings or they will be considered tardy.
Attendance will be taken DAILY by teachers. Tardies are counted across all classes. For instance, if a student is tardy to 1st period, 3rd period, and 5th period, then they would have a total of three tardies. Please note that the tardy count will reset at the beginning of each semester.
Consequences for tardiness will be handled by the administration of Milton High School.
See the following matrix below for consequences of tardies:
Consequences for Tardiness *COUNTS FOR UNEXCUSED TARDIES ONLY
- > 5 TARDIES- WARNING & PHONE CALL HOME
- 5 TARDIES - ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCE & PHONE CALL HOME
- 8 TARDIES - ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION & PHONE CALL HOME
- 10 TARDIES - ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION & PHONE CALL HOME
- 12+ TARDIES - STUDENT MAY BE PLACED IN HIGHER TIER FOR BEHAVIOR WHICH MAY INCLUDE MORE PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE CONSEQUENCES.
Please take some time to discuss our tardy policy with your child so that together we can establish this norm early on. We appreciate your support!
