CROSS COUNTRY

The cross-country teams of Milton High School once again raced at the Wingfoot Invitational meet on a Friday night under the lights in Cartersville, GA and came away with some impressive individual performances while racing some of the best teams in the eastern United States.

VARSITY BOYS

The record setting performance by senior Cory Chambers (20th-15:56) makes him the 10th-best performer in school history on any course as Milton (12th-339 pts) beat back 12 schools in the most competitive meet so far this season. The Eagles beat back many top-3 state meet contenders with some outstanding races from junior Zach Patell (73rd-16:44), sophomore Justin Sevel (88th-16:53), seniors Keller Wilson (98th-17:00), Pearson Gillam (17:15) & Oliver Stone (134th-17:21) & finally junior Danny Murray (135th-17:21). The entire varsity squad ran personal bests for the 5000-meter distance!

VARSITY GIRLS

The Lady Eagles had a much tougher road to follow and faced many strong teams from the southeast. Milton (22nd-478 pts) only turned back 2 schools in the very competitive field. For the 2nd time this season, senior Sydney Anderson (67th-20:13) ran her 2nd best time ever for the distance to lead the Lady Eagles. Juniors Calista Cacciatore (82nd-20:33) & Ella Grace Malcom (103rd-20:57) ran with Anderson until late in the race. Huge personal bests by junior Emerson Armistead (124th-21:27) & senior Emmaline Kelley (137th-21:42) closed out the Milton scoring. Sophomore Ivy Rindt (147th-22:02) & senior captain Gabby Beckman (155th-22:40) also ran on the varsity squad.

JV BOYS

Milton (10th-246 pts) bested 13 schools with senior Jack Rea (13th-17:34) running a big personal best for the distance and was the Eagles top-finisher over all 6 races contested.

JV GIRLS

The Lady Eagles bested 7 schools in a tough race that saw most of their runners having to fight through the crowded field. Milton (13th-351 pts) was led by sophomore Macy Schadt (45th-22:44) who was as far back as 80th midway through the race.

FRESHMAN BOYS

Milton (7th-228 pts) beat back 12 schools in the first race of the evening. Ryan Greathouse (27th-18:35) led the Eagle effort in a 2-minute personal best for the distance.

FRESHMAN GIRLS

In the best team finish of the meet for Milton (4th-105 pts), the Lady Eagles turned back 9 schools with many running all-time bests. Leading the way for Milton was Hollis Thompson (34th-23:41) running a two and a half minute personal best while steadily moving through the field the entire race.

The Milton cross country teams next see action on Saturday, October 1st when the travel to Charlotte, NC for the 47th Annual Wendy’s Invitational on the famous McAlpine Park course.

REDISTRICTING MEETINGS

Residents of Fulton County are assigned to a school attendance zone based on their residential address. When new schools or additional classroom capacity are added in a region, or imbalances of enrollment and capacity exist, the Board may direct staff to review attendance boundaries for modifications. This process of revising attendance boundaries is called redistricting.

Each time a redistricting effort is under way, the school system holds three rounds of meetings to gather information needed to draft a redistricting proposal that best meets the community's needs. Unlike other school systems, Fulton uses a process that encourages public discussion before developing a proposal. This allows the community to have maximum input in how the proposed attendance lines are created.

There are TWO MORE meetings scheduled for North Fulton:

Round Two

October 3, 2022 (6:00 to 8:00 P.M.) at Alpharetta High School

Round Three

October 18, 2022 (6:00 to 8:00 P.M.) at Alpharetta High School

Final Recommendations; First Read - November 8

Final Action: December 15
