FIRST DAY/WEEK INFORMATION

ONLINE COURSE REMINDERS

For students ENROLLED in an online course:

  • This is a reminder that students cannot be on campus during their virtual class time and must provide their own transportation to/from school. If you are not a Senior, parking is not guaranteed. Students loitering on campus during their online period may face disciplinary consequences.


For students REQUESTING an online course:

  • The deadline to request an online course was February 11, 2022. Counselors will not be accommodating requests for students to move from in-person to virtual and vice versa. If your student missed the opportunity to take an online class this year, he/she will have the opportunity to sign up in the Spring to take online courses for the 2023-2024 school year.

BUS INFORMATION


STUDENT DROP OFF

  • Please use this link to see drop-off procedures for the 22-23 school year.
  • Traffic is heavy from 8:00 - 8:20AM. (SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:20AM)
  • REMINDER: Being stuck in traffic will not excuse students from being marked TARDY to school. Accumulating tardies will result in disciplinary consequences.


SCHOOL HOURS FOR STUDENTS

  • The school will open for students at 7:30AM daily.
  • The school day STARTS at 8:20AM.
  • Arriving to school AFTER 8:20AM means the student is TARDY for school.
  • FCS provides bus transportation for ALL STUDENTS (this helps lessen the drop-off traffic.
  • The school day concludes at 3:30PM. Students in the building after 3:30PM need to be with their teacher, coach or group sponsor.
  • Students on campus unsupervised will face disciplinary consequences.

  • After purchasing a locker - print your purchase confirmation
  • During your students scheduled lunch, they will be able to select their locker location.
  • We suggest students follow their schedule for a day before choosing a locker location.


LUNCH

  • Milton High School is NOT an OPEN CAMPUS!
  • Students must report to the cafeteria during their LUNCH period.
  • Students will have access to outdoor seating during each lunch period. FOOD is NOT ALLOWED OUTSIDE.
  • FOOD DELIVERY FROM SERVICES LIKE DOOR DASH/UBER EATS/POSTMATES, TO SCHOOL IS NOT ALLOWED!

NEW FCS CELL PHONE/PCD POLICY

  • In grades 6 through 12, the use of PCDs is not allowed during instructional time and will only be allowed when explicitly instructed to do so by a teacher or other school staff member.
  • The use of cell phones and other PCDs for noneducational purposes, including but not limited to, recording staff and/or students without permission or other inappropriate content is strictly prohibited. Discipline consequences will be given.

SENIOR INFORMATION 

SENIOR SUNRISE

Senior Sunrise is Friday, 8/12 at 7:20AM. Class of 2023 come enjoy the sunrise and donuts to finish out the first week of school. Also, the first Senior Snack of the school year will be THIS month! Please use link below to get all the information and pay Senior dues.

NAVIGATING NAVIANCE FOR SENIORS

All students NOW have access to their Naviance accounts . We highly encourage SENIORS to watch the help videos linked below and familiarize themselves with the platform before we enter application season: https://popwellt.wixsite.com/miltoneagles/naviance-1

2022-2023 LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION REQUESTS

Attention Milton Seniors: Are you applying to college this Fall? If yes, does your application require a Letter of Recommendation? Look no further! Linked below are the two processes we have in place for requesting a Teacher LOR and/or a Counselor LOR:

  • Requesting a TEACHER LOR (will be linked)
  • Requesting a COUNSELOR LOR (will be linked)

Please carefully review the instructions for each type of letter request. The form to request a COUNSELOR LOR is now open, but submitting your request early does not mean that you will receive a letter early. Counselors will begin writing all letters on September 1.

Important Tasks for Seniors in need of a Counselor LOR:

  • View Senior Brag Sheet in Naviance (available August 8)
  • Complete the Senior Brag Sheet in Naviance by September 16
  • Submit your letter request to www.bit.ly/miltonLOR22 at least 10 business days before your college deadline

COLLEGE PLANNING KICKOFF

COLLEGE PLANNING KICKOFF hosted by Peachtree College Planning

MHS Counseling is proud to partner with Peachtree College Planning for an in-person COLLEGE PLANNING KICKOFF session at Milton High School on August 30 at 12:00pm. This information session is for Milton PARENTS and will help to:

- Learn how to achieve your college planning goals

- Uncover insider strategies to get FREE money

- Identify strategies to increase admissions chances

- Develop a timeline and stay on track to get ahead

- Discover how to navigate college applications

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Invitations to apply to the Milton Chapter of the National Honor Society will be sent to all qualifying Juniors and Seniors on Friday, August 12.

Requirements for an NHS application invitation:

For the 2022-2023 school year, Seniors who have attended at least one semester at Milton High School, have taken at least two honors level (or higher) courses at Milton and who have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 90 or higher will be invited to apply for membership.

For the 2022-2023 school year, Juniors who have attended at least one semester at Milton High School, have taken at least two honors level (or higher) courses at Milton and who have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 92 or higher will be invited to apply for membership.

NOTIFICATION TO PARENTS OF THE SCREENING & REFERRAL

PROCESS FOR GIFTED ELIGIBILITY 2022-23

The consideration for gifted services may be reported or automatic as defined by the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. The Fulton County School System screens all students for eligibility for gifted services twice a year and uses a systematic approach to identify highly capable students who may qualify for gifted services.

Accepting Members

Do you want to join a top USA ranked robotics team? If so, the Milton Robotics team is open for anyone to join and learn more about robotics; no prior experience required. Every year, we create robots that shoot targets, lift blocks, etc. We have builders, programmers, marketing coordinators, sponsorship teams, etc. You don’t have to know anything tech related to join. We always have a role to fit your interests.

TWO SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE!

Please help support Milton Track and Field and secure an awesome parking spot on campus. Do know a student in need of a parking spot at Milton HS this year? We know that spots for underclassmen, especially sophomores, are tough to get! Please check out this year's parking pass auction and place your bids!

The auction for these spots begins at 10AM Eastern on 8/8 and will close on 8/10 at 9PM.

Our auction this year features two separate parking passes at Milton High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Each spot is offered at a starting bid of $600 with a Buy It Now Price of $2500.

SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE!

Once the auction has ended and payment has been received by the Milton HS Track and Field Booster Club Treasurer, directions will be provided to finalize the parking pass application through Milton High School. Once purchased, parking passes are non-refundable, non-transferable and subject to all applicable parking rules at Milton High School.

All funds raised will support our Booster Club fundraising efforts for the team! Please help spread the word about this great opportunity and good luck!
